So, many agree the EC was a big improvement, but did it rekindle your love or recapture the magic of the series??

Yep sure did. Felt really depressed after completing the game with the original endings. But I really enjoyed the EC endings, and am looking forward to completing some of my other in-progress playthroughs. I am okay with no onscreen LI reunion, given that it is heavily implied in the Destroy ending. Even though the heroic sacrifice in Control and Synthesis(my choice) has just as much as an emotional impact on me.

I'm enjoying the healthy speculation now, not the speculation where we had to fill in so many gaps to even try to make sense of it all.

I have fallen back in love with Mass Effect, and it feels good. I hope many more of you will come around to it as well.

Personally, I fixed almost every problem I had with the endings. Though the lack of LI reunion with the destroy ending was kind of annoying. I look forward to whatever Bioware has planned for the ME universe.

Gotta be honest... no.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the endings. But for me, the magic died in ME 1, and hasn't been back since.

Honestly, I'm still not really interested in playing ME3, its still plagued with problems and there's not much reason to replay it like there was ME2. Normally I'd be all over more DLC, but it all seems pointless unless it directly affects the ending in some way.

It completely did for me. Before EC I didn't plan to play any ME ever again, but yesterday I started a new Shepard again (this time renegade) looking forward to what her decisions will bring up in the ultimate ending.

Let me put it this way.
Instead of unending agony and desperation like the original endings, the ED endings are merely a letdown and an annoyance.

I admit I could probably have lived with them.

What I don't get is why we can't have more than that one breath at the end if our rating is good enough. Why not show us the crew finding a living Shepard then, why not a few stills of Shep and his/ her family.

Why in all of this couldn't Bioware simply swallow their pride for once and give the fans that were desperately wishing for it an all around happy ending?

Agreed!
I can't understand why there was no cutscene at the end, were shepard is resuced in "perfect" destroy ending...
I was all like "yes, yes, yes, yes..... fail"

The extended cut solved 2 questions. Pretty pathetic, ending is still scrambled. I still want a ME4 though, with Shepard (Otherwise ME will not be Mass Effect anymore.) At least we got to see a baby Krogan. But hell, its an improvement. So for me, it didn't do anything.

It's definitely better, but I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as before. It's sapped my enthusiasm for the whole franchise/universe unfortunately. Not sure if I can be bothered to do another play through :(

It changed nothing, the ending is a road that took you to the same destination only the EC filled in some of the huge potholes.

My faith in Bioware is all but destroyed. Is it better than the original? Yes. But the star child was still a stupid character introduced in such as to say "God is here to solve all you problems for you". It just does not work.

How would we all feel if during the epic struggle of Return of the Jedi when the Emperor says "And now young Jedi, you will die" and starts zapping Luke Skywalker all of a sudden here appears the star child.

"You bad man" Star child says and the Emperor clutches his chest and dies. Then the star child destroys the whole imperial fleet with the wave of his hand and turns to Darth Vader and says "Have you learned your lesson yet?"

"Yes I have, so sorry"

"Good then I am done here" Star child disappears and the end credits roll.

I am sorry but the god like character appearing at the last minute to solve everything is just plain bad writing.

They kill my love for ME by the way they handle the whole thing. Although I appreciate the work they put into EC, I have this hollow feeling everytime I try to start another play through.

The way they treated the fans and their refusal to accept that the ending was so bad (esp. the former) was unforgivable.

EC did make things better, but it cant really repair it. Maybe in a few years I can get the games out again and play through them one more time, but for now its still tainted by the original ending and the first month after release.

I can live with the control ending since the essence of Shepard lives on as a guardian of the galaxy. My ideal ending would have been destroy minus the genocide of the Geth and EDI and getting to see Shepard have some happiness with Liara and make some blue babies.

Currently I'm going with the control ending and headcanoning that Liaras gift in London results in a blue baby.

The EC made me care about ME again. It took that empty space where there used to be so much richness and awe and filled it back up.

I still don't like the endings, but there's no longer an ache whenever I look back at the ME franchise. And that's enough for me, because that feeling is the worst thing in the freakin world.

Quoting this because this is how I feel as well. Did it recapture the magic? No. Did it make me love Mass Effect again? Yeah. I can now play the games again without feeling empty and asking myself  "what's the point?", so this is a big improvement (even though I'm still heacanon-ing a few things that I refuse to accept in the current endings).

Have to say though, my trust in BioWare has not been restored completely. They're going to have to earn it again, the EC is a step in the right direction but it's not enough yet to make me want to pre-order their games again.

No. The EC feels better but when I think about it, the Catalyst still doesn't fit or make sense and the entire ending seems out of place for the series. But at least it feels better. Now, at long last, I can confidently say goodbye to this once-great trilogy and what used to be my second-favorite developer in the vg industry.

It damn well did!

And I've got Retake guys to thank for this. Because, despite Bioware PR (mistakingly) insisting on it being clarifications, this is, actually, a retcon. It did not retcon the Catalyst... but it did actively backpedal on the implied galactic dark age, and the stranded Normandy.

In the hindsight, there may be a little bit too much sugar in the endings, but hey, Bio endings have a history of foresaking believability in favour of 'feelgoodness', and I never minded it before, so I'm not going to start now.

So, yeah, thank you, both Retake and Bioware. The former for pushing for the retcon, and the latter for making the change.

:)

I'm content and motivated to give ME3 at least one more SP playthrough on top of the one I still have to finish. What I hated personally has been fixed, the new endings give me enough closure to take away the sour taste of the original endings.

Let's just say it was a huge improvement that I see myself replaying the game. I wouldn't mind replaying the whole series if they would just fix the stupid face transfer issue~ Otherwise I feel me and Bioware have a sort of compromise at the moment.

Definitely an improvement. I still don't care for the ending, but this is better. I can live with it. My only gripe is that damn breath scene. >_> I really wish Bioware had expanded upon that in the EC. It was annoying before the EC, and it's still annoying now. >:|
