Imagine the ME1 ending track behind this thread. I truly hope we'll get another story with our Shepard, i truly do. But i expect that this is the end...

It's been a hell of a ride, one for the books.

For the record, the extended extended cut version of "An End Once and for All (Extended)" is bloody fantastic. It was a great track before EC, now it's even better.

Fifteen more minutes were composed specifically for the EC.

It too, like our two upcoming trilogy runs, was glorious.

I can find myself relating to a lot of what you said Shadrach. I'm still hoping for something more though.

I recently took the full journey all at once and I can say in a way I'm glad I didn't play the first one or second one when they first came out—such a long wait between sequals of such amazing games lol.

This is coming in a little late, but I'll add it here anyway because I agree wholeheartedly.

For me Mass Effect has become a Game of a Lifetime.

I definitely understand. Mass Effect is the closest thing I will ever get of achieving my dreams of traveling the stars in FTL, visiting distinctly different cultures and people.

It sucks shep died b/c, well he's MY badass, but I like bittersweet endings to b/c it shows that even the baddest man to be spawned in +1 bilion years is human. I know a lot of guys wanted a happy ending but IMO a happy ending where all the main characters live seems...hollow. In a game, I never get a true sense of connection with my characters if there isn't some chance of losing them. If they're ALWAYS going to live, why even care?

They'll need to can the auto-dialogue if they want people to care about a new protagonist, that's for sure. The only reason they can 'sort of ' get away with it in ME3 is because of the two games previous that you spent building and exploring your Shepard. Otherwise it will come off like Hawke in DA2, which I found kind of stale and was never a character I cared much about.

I honestly don't think anybody is really foaming at the mouth over the ending, it's just that we want the best possible ending to our favorite series of all time, and don't know how else to get EA to do anything about it without boycotting numerous otherwise-fantastic series'.

And the fact that we just weren't fully ready to say goodbye played a big role in it. Everything leading up to the ending was great, but just something about the final struggle gave us just enough hope for us to have a satisfying ending that when we didn't, and Shepard was suddenly yanked away from us, it felt like tearing out a part of ourselves. We'd invested so much time, effort, money, and soul into our own Shepard that for Bioware to totally glaze over the most important transitional point of the series felt like a borderline betrayal of everything we knew.

And if anything, all of this is only because the series is so compelling that you just can't help but become invested in its world and characters. No game has ever reached such a high, it's a shame that going back and playing the unforgettable and ground-breaking moments is overshadowed by such an unforgivable low.

As the last few lines of the Citadel DLC put it.
