I love how the Starchild explains things in detail now, but what I do not understand is why, in practice, would the Starchild give a Reaper's behind as to what my EMS is with regard to offering choices to my Shepard?

I get it how being able to choose a different option is a reward for accumulating a higher EMS from the game developers, but how the heck does it reflect on Starchild's in-game choice to offer us Control or Synthesize options?

Does he become more awed and impressed by Shepard the bigger his army is, thereby rewarding him with more choices? We see no indication of that. If, like one poster said, the Reject ending would play out differently depending on the EMS, then it would make sense that the Starchild is somehow being cautious not to get defeated and hence offers choices to Shepard to avoid having to fight his armies.

However, since Reapers conventionally destroy our forces no matter what, why the heck would he offer more choices based on the EMS?

I do not get it. Thanks.

EMS is generally accepted to be a measure of how able your fleet is to build and protect the crucible, hence why with a high EMS the kid says "Your Crucible is largely intact", whereas Low EMS, not so much...Its this that limits your choices. With a Low EMS, your Crucible is just to shoddily built and/or damaged to work properly and give all the options.

High EMS - more fleets, more people to harvest, wants Shep to do the job for him by choosing Synthesis.
