But if it does, I'm just gonna pretend I didn't read that.

Excellent. This seems to confirm my theory that Shepard can return if she has a greybox made. If that's the case, and it's updated before leaving the Normandy that last time, all Shepard will be missing is the memories of the final Earth mission, especially if she's uploaded into a new body. Hell, with the current applications of Synthesis, she might even still be able to have children with Liara in that form, and could well actually live long enough to see even higher forms of directed evolution arise. The implications here are actually quite lovely.
Unlikely. They don't have Shepard's memories, just programs to badly imitate her. If they become sapient, they'll likely diverge into their own personalities rather different from the original Shepard. Greyboxes are different because they're nothing but memory, and identity is primarily a function of memory. The Angry One wrote...

She'll have to compete with the several thousand Shepard VI copies that just became sentient.
I'm clearly a complete idiot. That works even better than my original thought.Holy ****bird! That's what Liara was doing with her "gift"! Gathering
all of Shepard's memories, and now Liara is going to meld with a Grey
Box and upload them into it. Like a memory shard, but only Shepard. Wow.
Then the thing become sapient in the synthesis ending, and we build a
robot body for Shepard, and install the shard into it.

So you see? Galaxy-altering decisions made under the influence of heavy wounds and insane anti-logic can work out. The only minor nuisance is the memorial scene, but as usual, I think someone didn't think it through.Yes yes everybody's happy in synthesis. Even the human Reaper came back to life and now parties on the Citadel.

The Kasumi-Keiji slide is easily one of the most disturbing aspects of Synthesis.
Kasumi's like a woman whose family has died so she shuts herself in with her old photo albums. A very sad life.

First of all, Im ok with the new destroy and control endings. They are aright and improve the broken endings of the the past.
But synthesis... Oh brother.
Heres one of the many facts about synthesis that pissed me off. Some of you guys saw Kasumi and Keiji back together during the slideshows of the green ending, remember? What the hell was that about? Can you bring people back to life because of some recorded memories and awesome green light? Well, turns out.. YOU CAN! AWESOME DISNEY ENDING EVERYBODY!

Would this form work for having any little blue (or green-tinged) children, do you think?sH0tgUn jUliA wrote...
Given this outcome ... I might change my mind and choose Synthesis! Drink the green Kool Aid. And it technically isn't a "robot body". It's a Hybrid body. So Shepard comes back looking exactly like Shepard, but more like EDI, well, unless it's a male Shepard of course, but you get the idea.
Take the name off that wall Liara!!! And wipe that frown off that face. I'm surprised EDI hasn't mentioned that to her yet. Oh, and at least give Shepard some decent dance moves.
And..... we'll do this not because it makes any sense.
But because "art"
Think about that for a minute. They wouldn't be becoming actual people again, they'd be becoming actual people for the first time. And those new people might not want to live as shut-ins.Xilizhra wrote...

I cant even form a coherent statement of the complete absurdity of kasumis b/f coming back to life who is just a memory in a computer.....
UUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY HEAD!
Your opinion on them not being the same people isn't really provable either way, because if souls exist, we don't know how they work. Ultimately it's irrelevant. And they can move around if they have new bodies to upload into.Think about that for a minute. They wouldn't be becoming actual people again, they'd be becoming actual people for the first time. What are we if not memories in flesh?I cant even form a coherent statement of the complete absurdity of kasumis b/f coming back to life who is just a memory in a computer.....
