I like Kasumi, and I am happy that she reunited with her love.

I don't understand why people have a problem with this. All of Keiji's thoughts and memories had been stored in the greybox. It isn't a stretch to believe that he might come back to life in some way in a scenario where infomorphs are implied to exist. Easier to believe than Shepard's resurrection, actually, because Shepard was braindead and didn't have a greybox.

Really, people should apply some creative thinking to their SF universes before complaining that something is silly.

Yeah, yeah. On the other hand, I suspect that nobody who was a diehard pro-Synth before is going to start complaining about space magic now.

Soooo... does that mean the Shepard VI becomes a Pinocchio story and re-unites with it's crew..

Oh God my head hurts now. I used to dislike Synthesis but there's only so much one can take from all of thus.

It gave sentience to an AI memory core of Keiji. Its more like a ghost in the shell thing. He's not really keiji, he's a reflection of him.

To quote Kasumi when looking at the Prothean statue, "Creeppyyyyyyy."

Oh crap, there is a Shepard VI isn't there :).  Shep lives on in destroy, control, and synthesis now.  It's official.  Space magic 4tw!

SO MUCH SPACE MAGIC, HOW CANNOT YOU LOVE GLOWING GREEN EYES AND SYNTHESIS!

I hate Synthesis so much. It goes against every theme so far, and yet Bioware keep trying to shove it down our throats by adding so much space magical happiness, even going as far to bring dead characters back to life.

Synthesis is a joke but I wasn't smiling much. I was actually sad to have it in my game. The worst part is how good it is, despite it's disconnection from the universe. Ugh! Kill it! KILL IT!

Since when do memories a person make? A graybox is just a fancy diary. Who is he, Tom Riddle?

Don't give them ideas. Imagine all of this Mass Effect stuff twisted into a Dragon Age setting. There's really magic there! We'd all be screwed!

And Shepard dies in this ending? Nope Shepard gets a green glowing body now too.

So I guess you have a problem with indoctrination?

I like how nobody realises that synthesis is an extension of indoctrination's concepts (not IT, indroctrination itself) on a genetic level, but not for the same purpose.

green glowing body was super cool.  it really nailed the "immortal utopia" concept down in a super awesome way.  evolution was a huge part of the series, not litterally but figuratively.  Its the core of EDI's entire character.

What?

I assume you talk about Reaper indocrination mechanics not IT. Read the codex, they use ultrasonic waves to affect your brain.
http://masseffect.wi.../Indoctrination

It's not exactly pure science but how deep do you want them to go? They are not going to make biological research or quantum physics all day either. Brain is proven to be adaptable to stimuli...

Now tell me how do you with a blast of green upgrade synthetics to every biological entity (difference species, DNA etc etc) and give DNA to all synthetics (this one is even more disturbing) disintegrating Shepard in the... you know what. I can't even finish this sentence it's just a fable. This whole thing doesn't make sense even if you only finished Primary School.

yeah that was a leading question.  they rewrote the ending dialogue to take out the "give dna to synthetics" bit. (pretty sure) Sending out a wave that affects our brain. Lets isolate that. "sending out a wave that affects our dna". oh. whats space magical about that?  Rewriting dna is theoretically possible.  Look at other fiction.  the fantastic four had thier dna rewritten by cosmic rays.  Thats almost the exact same thing as synthesis.  Its not magic, its exploration of theoretical science.  Just like with Biotics.  (aka: being psychic)

It actually makes as much science sense as indoctrination or biotics when you pay careful attention to the current synthesis ending. the old one was kinda bull****ty but they made it make sense now (as much as other important elements of the fiction)

Also you dont need to "assume" i am talking about indoctrination and not IT because i said so in my post in parantheticals  ;-E

Wait wait wait wait wait..

So the synthesis can bring buddies back to life in some form and they go for ****ing Keiji instead of say Kaidian/Ashley or Shepard!?

Actually those two phrases are drastically different.

Our thought are electrical impulses and the brain is a big adaptable electrical circuit in a very basic form. If we apply a correct signal for a long time the brain adapts to respond to it. You can program mice to react to a certain sound and sound is a wave.
DNA is a polymer. You can't alter a polymer without a reaction with something. At least it's vastly beyond the scope of my comprehension. The same way how exactly do you program synthetics to understand life?

If such physics are acceptable to you, it's fine. Some people can forgive more than others and I'm glad you enjoy the ending, but from Mass Effect I always expect higher standards. Yes some things are more unrealistic than others, but that's Sci-fi. Most of the wobbly physics used in the game is derived from the concept Mass Effect which established in the very opening text. However if you explain most things down to Newtonian-Einstein Physics including overheating in the ships, discharging ME cores, shooting in vacuum(who else bothers to establish that if you shoot a slug in cosmos it will never stop? I love that sergeant on the Citadel), blue-shift while in transit (someone had to think about that!) and leave others especially the one that determines the very ending of the game at the level of basic Biology it's a huge discrepancy.

Edit: I certainly hold ME to higher standards than a Fantastic Four. ME doesn't have superheroes just advanced science. Biotics are the reaction to eezo which is the core of the conept of Mass Effect. It's all tied together in a bundle in the very first opening write/up. Everything has a detailed codex entry.

It's because Keiji himself was pretty much stored inside the grey box. His memories etc...

I still loled at your post very much though Image IPB

Don't understand the problem here. He doesn't say that Keiji is back to life, just that Kasumi should be with him on the sliders in synthesis. Keiji is probably a hologram.

Not one to burst your bubble but eezo makes no sense at all and is space magic.  I'm not even being sarcastic I've gotten as deep into the fiction as I could and thats the point where it breaks down, its covered up with alot of really sweet and cool technobabble but it still is "the magic wand" component of the series.  Synthesis is no more a leap than the other concepts.  it just seems to be the popular whipping boy because of the hype.
