Whatever. It takes no more than 45 minutes on bronze to reach level 7-8 and no more than another hour on silver to be in the teens. Boring? Then jump into silver at level 1 and you'll make nearly as many XP as you would with a rare character card - a character card that, by the way, may not drop for the class you just promoted. It's very doable for any experienced player (certainly any player who was getting constant [useless] rare character cards in SPs/PSPs, meaning all rare weapons are at X) - I played with a guy last night who was vorching it up from level 1 on silver. If you think that's "boring" then you're playing a bizarrely different game from the rest of us, or you're just bored with the game, in which case you should find a different one.
<SNIP>
Adepts are supposed to use biotics... Engineers are supposed to use tech powers... Sentinels are supposed to use some combination of both... etc. Level 1 characters are largely incapable of of doing so.
I see using a BFG for one game to get them as using a crutch to limp my way to actually being able to play the character properly. Just because I don't like to do it, doesn't mean that I can't... but I've done it so often in the past that it just doesn't hold much, if any, interest for me. That doesn't mean I'm bored with the game, it just means there are other aspects of gameplay that I find appealing. And so I use the character cards to get to that point so that I can play the game in the way that I find enjoyable. You call it lazy... I call it maximising my fun. LAst time I checked that was kinda the point of playing a video game.
And as for the right character card not dropping... I always play all my characters up to 20 and then promote them all... so it doesn't matter which class card drops... it'll always be a 'right one'.

you compensate by using heavy weapons.. everyone I see, uses widow X or similars to farm to silver then to gold.

Or do 2 PSP kinds, one with character cards, another with the new system.
This would be perfect for me, as I don't play that often and would much rather experience a new character than the difference between an Arc Pistol II and an Arc Pistol III.

The thing is, if you don't have all the characters unlocked, this change doesn't really affect you anyway. Rare character cards are only taken out of the mix once they've all been maxed. For you, they're still in the pool for random draws when you buy a pack.lazuli wrote...

It takes all of maybe 2 hours or less to get a character to lv 20. Stop being lazy.

Holy crap, the irony. It seems like the majority of people who play this game want to be lazy and have all rare/ultra rare/n7 weapon drops just come to them with no chance of any other card. What are you going to do when you have everything maxed out? Isn't the main point of this game is to play to get credits to unlock new toys to use?

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to get at by quoting me, my friend. Bioware implemented a good substitute for the CC's, and human character cards are still available in recruit packs and people can buy them up like candy so there's the exp everyone needs for leveling up. If people want to level up faster to promote faster, play the class.
And the point of this game is to play to have fun. Once everything is unlocked, you just have more options to have fun. I thought this was understood.

That's like playing an RPG or an MMO, or something and having all the best gear. What's the point of playing? Half the fun is earning credits to get weapons/mods/gear etc.

Mass effect isn't an RPG? That's news to me.
And yes, half the fun is getting weapons/mods/morethingstoblowcrapup. What happens when you get all there is to get? You play even more to have more fun until they release more stuff to have fun with. However, this is getting a bit off topic, my friend and I am not entirely sure what we're arguing about or if we even are arguing...
(I also love how you ignore the rest of my post)

The matter of the fact is i don't mind getting level 4 ammos instead since i can actually use them.
I stopped promoting a long while back, so i just don't see the point in ccs anymore, but that's my personal opinion though and there are some folks out there who'll agree with me on that.

Please dear god don't call this game an RPG. Maybe the first one, but 2 and 3? lol. It's not a real rpg.
Quoted from wikipedia:
"A role-playing game (RPG and sometimes roleplaying game) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting, or through a process of structured decision-making or character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines."
Please explain to me how this game(or any video game with a set narrative) isn't a "real" rpg. I'd love to hear it.

Please re-read the sections of my previous post I have quoted here.
If you need a translation for "BFG", this might help: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BFG_9000
Oh... and I've seen countless post on here that have derided farming as boring, cheap, lazy, not playing the game properly, etc. (i.e. no better than using credits to buy a few levels).
Thank you for proving my point.

You don't like gameplay at 20, you don't like gameplay at 1. You don't like not having powers, but you also don't like having powers maxed. You don't like not having the synergies, but you also don't like having all the synergies working 100%. You sir, are hard to please.

It takes about 2 matches to be at a decent level. 2 matches that would be infinitely easier with lvl 4 ammo. CC suck, please never bring them back.

I like working towards having the characters at 20 with all the synergies working properly.
When I get there I usually play them that way for a few games
Then I promote them all so they don't get stale and start all over again.
When I do that, I like to skip past the early stages that I find to be tedious and not playing the character class properly. Exactly how high I boost the characters depends on how the character cards dropped for me. One or two might end up being boosted quite high if it took a while for other(s) to drop sufficiently.
Hard to please? Nope... the game was doing a fantastic job of it before this change was implemented.... I hadn't changed the disk in my Xbox for many weeks until I swapped the two ME3 disks around in order to play the new EC DLC yesterday.
Not having silver and gold character cards dropping is just making me choose between two different types of tedium... before I needed a couple of gold cards per class... now I'll need around 8 blue for each if my mental arithmetic is right. That's 48 recruit packs... or 240,000 credits... i.e. four SPs... or the better part of three PSPs.
