...the fact that the original endings destroyed the relays and left people to die. It was a sacrifice to be made so all future species and generations could live. It was honorable and expected that the price of victory would be high. 

In the EC, (SPOILERS) the Catalyst states that "things will be damaged, but the damage can be easily repaired". Where is the sacrifice in that? 

One of the additional scenes shows the collective fleets passing by a relay that is depowered, has one of it's prongs smashed off and it's core is enirely missing. With all the industrial centers, most Asari tech and all supply lines basically demolished, how would repairing ANYTHING be 'easy'? Yet, the epilogue pictures show whole planets (rannoch, tuchanka) rebuilt within Jacob Taylor's lifetime......*sigh* solved some problems, created others.
