Good effort, more work needed.

now 8/10

(still missing war assets/ME2 squadmates in action during "Prority Earth". With this it would have been 9/10)

The extended scenes are just too much of what I've seen and heard before. Namely from DX1, IW and HR.

Original: 3/10
Extended Cut: 7/10 -- it still has problems but it is better. The problem is the core concept of the Sophie's Choice and pretty much forcing the deus ex machina type ending on the series by overblowing the reapers in concept and number, and making the galactic government and military about as intelligent as chimpanzees.

pre: 0 I have never hated an ending to anything even half as much as I hated this one.
post: 5 Now tolerable. I still don't like it, but it's tolerable. Control is actually interesting now but synthesis is still the most ridiculous example of space magic I've ever seen. The refusal option was a nice touch, but seriously could have been so, so much more. But I have to ask, where are my war assets in action? That would have made me feel like I was actually taking back the Earth, even if I did cop out to the Starbrat in the end.

It's kinda too little to late. I think if this had been the finale from the start we wouldn't have seen nearly as many complaints as we did and thats the problem. It fleshed everything out and explained quite a bit but it feels like something that should have simply been in the game to start. I

However, i'm still not happy about having an obvious choice about what ending to have. I was expecting to fight Harbinger somehow and then be introduced to the ending created based on my key decisions up until that point. Yet we were given a set of choices that decided the end, basically making everything up that then pointless in my eyes.

I liked the ideas of the original ending, but I was disappointed in the poor execution in terms of plot holes and a lack of closure. The EC managed to significantly solve and confront these issues, so I found it much more satisfying (although it still isn't perfect).

Starchild still raises too many questions, too many circular arguments that you can debunk immediately like the Synthetics vs. Organics BS when you just united the Geth and Quarians. Simply throw out the Star Child thing, throw in a boss fight after the EM, Anderson confrontation to get the arms of the Citadel open (the boss is trying to prevent you from doing that of course), and you know, have the Crucible work like we all thought it would work all along , and I would say ME3 would be damn epic.

And the ending would be like Destroy, except EDI and the Geth survive, and dependent on your EMS is whether Shep lives or not.
