Original 1/10.
EC 3/10
Lingering questions remain mixed with bad writing. An example being the Normandy landing on earth when the codex states that this is pretty much never gonna happen - or that same scene Harbinger being all "its cool you can say your goodbyes, I can wait".
Ridiculous.
Ending before and now: on a scale of 1-10

Before: 0/10 - A complete abomination that violates everything I liked about ME, executed extremely lazily. I'd give it a negative score if I could.
After: 6/10 - Slightly above average. There's actually some sensible effort done. Still many problems, but acceptable.

5/10 For Destroy.
They didn't expand upon the cliffhanger at the end in which Shepard breaths a single breath and we pretty much got told by Jessica Merizan on twitter to use our imagination. I found control to be a lot better and synthesis left me on the fence over it i don't hate it nor love it.
they said the Citadel would be re-built, so obviously (with the destroy ending) they will find shepard on the citadel alive

Before EC: 2/10
After EC: 5/10 - better because of new refusal ending, significantly improved Catalyst conversation, and more closure on the 3 previous endings. Still very mediocre, however.

a few things here and there could still be improved but it's a worthy end to a phenomenal trilogy. won't give it a number though.

1 thing is clear. They will have to pick 1 if they want to do a sequel. While in theory railroading all ending into one (after, let's say, 100,000 years) is *technically* possible, I can't even imagine the level of retcons/nonsense railroading they would have to pull of to bring all those 3 endings into one. And now we also have the new Reject ending which is even more different than the other 3 (since most if not all of the galaxy was wiped out)corkey sweet wrote...
i think if they make a ME4. the destroy ending will most likely be cannon

I still don't like the space brat... Altough Destruction ending became kinda good and not the evil selfish thingy on the original cut. Kudos for that.

Catalyst is definitely the problem, but they really did a nice effort trying explain choices, and improve the different endings. I don't wanna even talk about the reject one.

EC 10/10
The extended cut was everything I needed for ME3 to shoot back up to being my all time favorite game. All of my questions were answered, I now know how my decisions impact the future of the galaxy, and I am now able to imagine a reunion between my Shepard and her LI. I am content.
It helps that I don't nitpick. I'm glad we got the EC in the first place...

Yeah, yeah, there still lingering issues but I feel vindicated.
The best improvement of the EC was to bring ME alive to me again.

Origional Impression-2
After some soul searching-6
After Extended Cut-8/9
9 being if that ending is paragon control because I feel that it was much better foreshadowed in terms of Shephard, who she is and the decisions she has made. Its also dramatically affected by your paragon/renegade score. Plus it also feels the most like a sacrifice and bittersweet of all the endings. Shephard gives up her humanity and everything you loved so that you could serve others.

Before: -10, as it actively destroyed the plot, universe and established themes.
After: 6 Slightly above average at best.
A full variation of indoc theory, or even just the removal of star-kid would have been a 9 or 10.

Mind you that 7/10 is a good thing. In normal terms that sits right on average. The feelings I have for the extended cut are that it's really good, but it's because it clears SOME of the issues up and overall feels more polished than the original ending. Plus the Normandy crash is pretty much as close to removed as you can get without completely altering the end. It never belonged in the ending so I was glad to see its impact reduced.
While ME3 is in some ways vastly superior to ME2, I still think the last hour of Mass Effect 2 blows the ME3 EC out of the water. I'd easily give that one a 9/10...one off for human reaper prototype.
