So I just played the Mass Effect 3 EC ending, and while they were a little better than the orginals, they still weren't that satisfactory.

So here's what I believe the ending of Mass Effect 3 should have been like.

Shepard will have his final words with his squad as in the game, then lead a great charge for the beam to the crucible.  He will lead to squadmates, but his other team members will fight alongside him, only not controllable.

In order to break through the first wave without suffering heavy casualties and a current squadmember death, Shepard must have a 2000 EMS and Krogan support.  They will bolster the strike team and Wrex and Grunt will be present.  If Captain Kirrahe survived ME1, he will also help Wrex.  If Shepard doesn't have enough EMS or Krogan support, he will lose a good amount of his strike team and both of his squadmembers, forcing him to choose another two and making the next section more difficult.

The second wave is much harder, but Shepard will man a Mako and lead a convoy.  After a certain checkpoint, Harbinger will land in front of the beam and deploy another army.  He will destroy Shepard's Mako and he will have to bail with his squad.  While the army tries to regroup after Harbinger's attack, the Turians and Asari, with high EMS, will cover them, saving more soldiers and another two of Shepard's squadmates.  If EMS is not high enough, the Turians and Asari will die and Shepard will lose either his LI as one of the two squadmates killed or a random one if his LI is not in the squad member selection.

For the final wave, Shepard will lead a charge with all or some of his squadmates left, and the united forces of the Turians, Krogan, Asari, Salarians, and the Rachni (that is if the player gained their support) against Harbinger and his army.  With high EMS, the army will successfully destroyed most of Harbinger's forces and Joker will swoop in on the Normandy and blast multilpe holes into Harbinger.  If the Rachni are present, they will overrun him.  Also, the Blue Suns and other mercenary factions will show up, led by Aria.   If EMS is moderate, the army will be weakened greatly and the Normandy will still weaken Harbinger, but he will still be strong enought to face Shepard personally.  If EMS is not high enough, Harbinger will wipe out everyone except Shepard and Anderson and the Normandy will be destroyed.  If Shepard has lost too many soldiers beforehand, he will die and the game will end.

Shepard and his remaining squad will enter the beam along with Anderson and reach the Crucible.  If Harbinger was destroyed due to high EMS, the player will face a completely indoctrinated Illusive Man aboard along with an army of Husks.  All the while, Reapers will bombard the Crucibile.  If the player has support from either the Quarians or Geth, the Crucibile will be greatly damaged.  If the player has support from both the Geth and the Quarians, the Crucible will remain largely intact as the attacking Reapers are eliminated.  If Harbinger is still strong enough to fight, instead, he will lead a personal attack on Shepard and his crew, and the only way to stop him here is for Joker to sacrifice himself to stop Harbinger.  If most of Shepard's squad has been wiped out and the Normandy is destroyed, he will be unable to avoid the fire Harbinger puts on the Crucible and will be killed, ending the game.

One either the Indoctrinated IM or Harbinger is defeated, Harbinger will speak to Shepard through the fallen IM or the control console of the Crucible and tell him the inevitability ot the chaos created by the existence of organic life.  He states that the Reapers provide order for the galaxy and prevent its destruction by out of control species and make way for new life.  He states that the organic life is corrupt and must be wiped out every so often to preserve a future for new life.  He provides examples of the conflicts throughout the Mass Effect universe, such as the Krogan vs. Salarians, Turians vs. Humans, and Geth vs. Quarians.

At this point, if Shepard has solved many of these conflicts between races, he will have the ability to  refute every point Harbinger makes and will state that the galaxy does not have a predetermined destination, and the Reapers have no right to exterminate life. He will state that nothing is written in stone, and that the future will definitely not be as the Reapers envision it.  If he hasn't, Shepard will only remain silent.

The Crucible will connect to the Citadel, and if Joker survived, the Normandy will arrive to pick Shepard and his team up.  However, one person must remain behind to activate the Crucible.  The activation will release a wave of energy that wipes out all the Reapers, but will also destroy the Crucible and greatly damage the Citadel. Anderson offers to stay behind, and if he does, he will be remembered as a hero.  However, Shepard will also be able to take his place, so the sacrifice will not be a requiremnt, but a player choice.  And if the player chooses to personally sacrifice Shepard when he or she is given the chance to save him, it will have much more meaning and Shepard will be remembered by his crew and have a final monologue as they put his name on the Normandy Memorial, similar to the EC Control one.  If the Normandy does not survive, Shepard and his remaining crew will die together on Crucible.

After the Crucible is activated, if all the forces in the game have been united, the game's ending will show a bright and optimistic future.  If most have been, the game will end on a postive note as well, but will also show the continuation of the conflicts Shepard did not solve.  If only the bare minimum of forces have been unite to achieve victory, the galaxy will return to its previous state.

As an easter egg after the credits, if Shepard romanced Liara and survived, he will have a bunch of blue babies with her sitting on the beach. :D
