TL;DR Did the fans overreact, or did we just want something we loved so much and had such high hopes for to succeed the way we knew it could, and be called a masterpiece that moved us all?

Ok so i posted a forum yesterday (http://social.biowar.../index/12789486) talking basically about if the EC worked for everyone, and i know we've all heard this, but this was among the comments;

They spent four months on this, put in meaningful content and shelled out money to give you this for free and everyone here on BSN is just chucking it away. Do you have any idea how long it takes to develop content? The costs and the serious development times?
I'm a simple Level Designer, and I know it takes ages for any projects to even move.

In this time, Bioware could have pumped out a dozen ALT Appearance, Weapon packs or even done MP DLC which would be paid, yet they gave the time to address fans and at give you it for free?
I find all this hating on EC to be a little ungrateful. They did fine.

Because some people think all thier yelling, crying, and OVEREACTING makes them think they deserve something.

to which i replied;

"Is it really so bad that we loved the game and story sooo much that we wanted it to realize it's full potential and shatter all our expectations on video gaming? Before the ending, i was expecting to be totally blown away and/or in tears after he credits rolled. Instead, i was... empty. I had never loved a game so much and been so moved by the story, and they slapped us in the face with that ending. Isnt it sad when a player made theory, IT, is better and more amazing than the ending that this writing team came up with? How could they script such a masterpiece, then screw it up so badly? No, i dont think we overreacted. We just wanted somehting we loved so much to shatter all our hopes and expectations set forth. This game could have gone down in history as a masterpiece, instead, it will go down as a case study. Its a shame, but i guess it wasnt meant to be."

so my question to you guys, what do you think about my reply? Did we overreact? Thoughts?

On a side note, in another comment, someone said BW accomplished it's mission because the majority seem to be accepting the ending enough to move on and forget the while thing. In my opinion, i think this ois incorrect to a degree. I think what the people are Accepting is the fact that the ending is what it is, and while the EC did a patch job to make a MEDIOCRE ending, this is all it will be; Mediocre. The ending will never realize it's full potential, thats just how it is.

Thoughts on that?

Sorry for the walls.

I don't know if it's "overreacting." I think it's a reflection of how much people had invested though.

I know a lot of people took offense to the label of "passionate fans" when there were press releases describing the reasoning for why were deciding to make the extended cut, thinking that it was a marginalizing term.

I think it's fair and not meant to be disparaging though. If you didn't care that much about the game, you would have just moved on.

So while I would say that there were some responses that made me go O.o and think "that might be a bit crazy" in general I think it was mostly just people having a shocked and emotional response and it was a reflection of how much they cared for the setting.

It's _why_ I decided to jump into the shark tank.
