Store your vids in game movies or skip text:
First thing i wonder is could there possibly be an update available where you can either skip through text you have seen before or a theatre section where you can re-view the cut-scenes and endings you have earned? I love mass effect but I have now done the Citadel Section 5 times (2 original endings and 3 EC versions) and with more play throughs in front of me I would like to store my cut-scenes as a sort of recognition of my achievements in game and my story line. Spent hours this evening recording the 3 EC endings so i can watch them again without having to shoot Anderson again and again :-) I really liked him and it's a shame lol.
Thoughts so far:
I am still left with questions but I think that's a good thing. I liked the original endings but I really appreciate the effort put into the EC.
My personal favourite out of the destroy, control or reject would seem to be the control ending because I liked the idea of the desstroyers becoming the "Repairers" rather than the Reapers. There has been a lot of talk about the "Shepherd breathes" ending and whether Shep is dead or not and this is again what I like about the series, plenty of scope for us to really think what we like! As I haven't seen the breathing ending yet, I have some random thoughts on the control ending in particular:
There is a background voice behind the Catalyst child, did anyone else think it sounded like Sheperd? Did this matter? Reaper Shep talks about how the original died to save others, making "died" seem quite final BUT if digi Shep is now controlling the Reapers and is so powerful, what is stopping him from creating an avatar of himself just like EDI did? The holographic memory of him played at the start of the epilogue made me consider this as a possibility. For those worried about Shepherd being dead in this particular version of events, I think it would be great for the Catalyst to create a physical Shepherd that can then go and save the universe again in a sequal. The boy Catalyst said he didn't have time to tell us more about the original creators of the Crucible...perhaps they could be a new threat to the galaxy? Perhaps the race that created the reapers (those that did not become the first reaper) may still exist and come back very annoyed that their cycle has been broken?
Sheperd dead?
Some were annoyed at a funeral or memorial scene. For me it fitted well with the ending for my PC Sheperd and for my xbox version (the one I played through from ME1), I consider it as a memorial with a big "what if". Afterall, there is no body and he did die before in ME2 and wasn't even sure if he was still the original Sheperd?? Not really wanting to draw comparisons but a similar memorial was held for Master Chief in Halo3, it was a "trilogy" and Halo 4 will soon bring back Master Chief. So we know anyway that Sheperd's friends think he is dead and I am holding out hope that he will make some form of come back in a future release.
Thoughts on Destroy:
My very first choice pre-EC. Was happy the reapers were defeated but didn't really know what i had done to the galaxy. I quite liked the almost Battlestar Galactica type ending with the rag tag fleet and liked that civilisations would recover. Wouldn't be the ideal ending for my Sheperd though.
Thoughts on reject:
I wondered what would happen to Liara's time capsule so this was a nice surprise for me plus i liked the Asari granny at the end too. Again, not my personal favourite though.
Syntesis and Shepherd Breathes: I am working towards these still and having great fun getting there!
Ideal ending for my Sheperd:
I was content that control suited my PC version of Sheperd and was apt for him but for my xbox Sheperd my absolute ideal would have been that the catalyst had changed more than it realised as a result of the Cricuble and this allowed it to transport Sheperd back to Earth at the very last minute, allowing him to survive and reunite with his friends. The destroy ending would be the same otherwise but in the case of the control ending, the catalyst would be able to copy Sheperd's personality like a Mega VI and transport Shep back to earth allowing him a reunion with his team mates. I guess if you spend three games trying to keep all of your characters alive, you don't want to lose them. Having said that, I am still thrilled with the endings to date and the brilliant cut scenes!
