Honestly, if you woke up tomorrow and someone had given you superpowers while you slept without telling you, would you really be mad?

That depends. Did they leave a manual?

Yes. I'd learn to deal with it, but I would always be angry that it happened in the first place. I happen to like being a chubby asthmatic with little physical prowess. It forces me to find other areas in which to succeed. Not to mention, it's MY body. I decide who does what with it.

The question is actually useless. If you are rewritten ( or " better understanding of life " ), your mind change, reach the pinnacle of evolution and then, it wouldn't matter anymore, with your new logic.

Jeez, you guys act like they full-on brainwashed everybody. They made people half robot, and they made robots realize what it was like to be organic. Have you ever thought about EDI? How she doesn't really "like" things, but she has "priorities"? Well, now she understands what it is to really LIKE something like we do. That's the understanding. They also probably understand mortality, and overall there's no reason for organics and synthetics to fight because nobody is trying to one-up the other.

People weren't brainwashed. There will be war. Surely the Krogan will ****** somebody off, someday. Or maybe the Turians, or whatever. Nobody was forced into peace, it's just going to happen.

The only argument I've ever heard that holds any water against synthesis is "how does dna become synthetic? Magically?" Because yes, it took some space magic. Everything else though, isn't so bad. It isn't some monstrous act. You're just coming to the worst possible conclusion.

you can't really argue seriously if the ending is only based on space magic. So people can't rely on what they've seen, this ending so apparently perfect. It's normal.

You don't even know what has changed exactly, with their mind, their brain, how that worked, etc that's just only what you believe. The only thing you think you know relies only on what EDI was saying, how she was sooooo alive, how they reached the pinnacle of evolution, blah blah blah. But you don't have any proof of what you are saying right now. If people weren't brainwashed.

You know why ? Because nothing has been explained with this process, but the only thing you know is everything is perfect. Okaaay.

I agree all the way with you
Especially with the Starbrat only real arguement being "Why Not?"
All I see with Synthesis is everyone is covered in circutory & got the Green Lantern glow going on
How does this make things better?
what of the huskified beings do they regain conscience & proceed to commit suicide at the realilzation they have been turned into abominations?
Or the Reapers themselves who we see just strutting around in the EC endings
What about Javik?
Pretty sure he'd want to kill himself seeing as he's been transformed into this

The more I look at synthesis (unsurprisingly) the less sense it makes

OP, what "superpowers? You're DNA or whatever is altered to be similar to that in which Synthetics was altered. Everyone has greens eyes and veins or whatever. No superpowers that I know of

Yes, because it was done without my consent. how do they know that I *want* superpowers at all or anything like it?  The answer is...they don't. So yes, Synthesis *is* a violation to someone no matter what "benefits" are claimed to have been given. .

Umm, I don't want to be half-synthetic.  Oh, that's right, you didn't give me a choice.

More than one. Also, anyone who does get that needs to watch the Pixar movies. All of them. Right now.

Like I said in another thread, synthesis logic follows the dictator's ethics. I know what is better for you so for your own good I am going to force it on you. This is the logic of all the despots in history. They always do it for the greater good in there own minds.

Being forced to be something you don't want to be even if the outcome is better for you is still slavery.

That's pretty much how I felt when I was a teenager and learned I could grow a beard. I also had to learn a whole new set of tricks involving personal hygiene.

So yes, just like I was when I was a teenager, I'd be mad! I never wanted to have to shave so damned often, dammit! I DIDN'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN!

Sadly this discussion is really moot, since Synthesis doesn't even fix the issue for the future.

I can bet you, sometime in the future, some Synthesized being will decide they want a full synthetic creature to harvest food for them since a machine will do it faster and better. Someone else will tinker a bit and make it smarter and thus work around more issues without over-site, and finally someone else will network or otherwise increase the processing power and BOOM a full synthetic AI will be reborn, and thus the cycle starts all over again because you have a full synthetic AI "who must rebel against his creators" in conflict with his hybrid-synthetic-organic creators.....

Synthesis is a stupid ending from start(space magic) to end(doesn't fix the issue for all time). Not to mention if you are immortal now, did anyone think of the stagnation of the galaxy that would cause or the gross overpopulation it would cause??

Stagnation because, imagine if your boss NEVER retired and cleared a way for you to move into his position?? Elders would ALWAYS have move money and power just because they have been alive longer and will NEVER DIE. Those born later will ALWAYS be subordinate to the elders for eternity.....sounds like H&LL to me.

The problem is not the result the problem is the action. It is morally and ethically wrong to do this without permission. It is not your body you have no right to change it. Honestly it kind of scares me that people do see that. Shepard even says something like that if you reject it.

What exactly do you think the state of the world will be when even murderers, rapists and lunatics have the same superpowers and immortality?

Honestly, tomorrow, if you woke up and someone had completely, utterly, and inherently changed the way you experienced life without telling you--without your choice--would you really be okay with it?

I wouldn't be angry because I'd be brainwashed.  My unique, "undesirable" characteristics such as my propensity to act in my own self-interest, contemplate revenge, feel jealousy, doubt, etc. would have been purged.

So no, I wouldn't be mad... but that's part of the problem right there.  I wouldn't feel mad because I've just received a magic space lobotomy.

This.

It felt like that throughout the whole ending. Like everyone just accepted it. It became one with them.

I actually feared for the galaxy. Good for EDI, but I think even pre-Synthesis EDI would have called this an abomination. She embraced humanity, not this.

Saren Arterius: I'm not doing this for myself. Don't you see, Sovreign will succeed. It is inevitable. My way is the only way any of us will survive. I'm forging an alliance between us and the Reapers, between organics and machines, and in doing so, I will save more lives than have ever existed. But you would undo my work. You would doom our entire civilization to complete annihilation, and for that, you must die.

We are being played. Red herring. Bioware loves this ending not for the reasons many players think.

They're not superpowers if every living thing in the galaxy also has them.
