Before I start I'm replacing the letter that comes in between j and l with a c for now as my ceyboard occasionally goes bananas !

Anyway bacc to the problem. The waterfall placeables that came with MotB freeze when you save in the area they are in and also remain static when you return. This happened to me before and I haven't used them since and stucc with the visual effect ones.

However in the situation I have at the moment I need to use them for lining things up is there a way to prevent this happening ?

Thank you.

This happened to me in one area in Path of Evil. I deleted the placeable and replaced it, same thing. It's some kind of strange bug. I simply wrote it into the game, with an in character sign that basically said "wizard did it" :) I think it actually made the area more interesting. Since it wasn't related to any quest, it made the area more "lived in".

Good idea I like work arounds like that, unfortunately I don't think I'll get away with it where this one is.

I think the computer saves the area when you leave/save just like a photo and forgets to turn it back on. The thing is it's so much easier using a scale adjustable placeable and there's no way I can get the placed effect to line up as it's vertical and sheer drops on the edge of one of the big tiles are pretty much impossible. Even sticking a house at the top and using the flatten under command gave a bit of a slope so the waterfall if lined up at where the water stops finishes up in the cliff half way down and doesn't hit the river below.

Thanks anyway and at least it's not just me.. And my PC's k button is working again too so that's a bonus !

I had it too, I seem to remember in another thread that you need to make them enviromental objects and that clears the problems.

I also might not have seen that so suck it and see ...

I sucked and I saw and so far what I saw is looking pretty good the water's still moving, I haven't tested it on a re enter of the area yet as there aren't any transitions but all in all I think you just made some elves very happy and me too I was dreading trying to line up effects on a double waterfall.. Many thanks

I've used the effect placeable versions in modules, and cheated slightly by placing boulders around the top of the waterfall so I could move the effect forwards enough to not cut into the terrain.

That works fine for small waterfalls, but I'm guessing there comes a point where your waterfall is so tall that it's just not feasible to bulk out the top enough without creating a major overhang (and risking seeing up through the bottom of the boulder placeables).

I'm a big fan of boulders covering things up and have used them on all my waterfalls so far but this one is a bit different ( it's not in the background ) as you can walk over a bridge at the top of it and get to the bottom of it.

It's a shame that all the placeables don't come with bottoms especially boulders we could have made tunnels !

There are a small number of placeable models that can be walked under. I've used a scaled version of the wooden lean-to placeable to make verandahs over house doors, and even a free-standing wooden shed (with wooden post placeables holding it up). By squeezing it in the Z direction it becomes a sloping roof rather than a lean-to.

Some natural placeable models with bottoms would indeed be very useful. The only one I know of is one of the ice chunks, which can look a bit like a boulder if you put the stoneskin VFX on it. I used that as a boulder missile for hill giants to throw, since the ballistic VFX cause it to roll in the horizontal axis while in flight (so a bottomless boulder wouldn't do). It also leaves a nice dust trail behind it as it flies, courtesy of the stoneskin effect.

Interesting tips, I'll be looking out for that ice later as it could be rather handy, thank you.
