Personally, I greatly approve of the Extended Cut. I still like what Sovereign said about Reapers having no beginning or end, just being, and killing organics for laughs and blah blah, but whatever. I'll buy the explanation we got mostly on account of I can actually see some moron foolishly believing that creators and created cannot coexist because chaos ensues and stuff.
And of course, we got the ability to pop a couple bullets into that bastard kid's ethereal cranium, but that leads to an ending just as ambiguous as the other three used to be. Since nothing is different (ie, we may as well not have the "advantage" of the Crucible since we're not using it anyway), we can safely assume the war drags on in very much the same way it has been going on so far. And frankly, I'm content with assuming that the Reapers win yet again. However, the game promptly ends, and we see Liara's time capsule in the next cycle. We still don't get a boss battle with Harbinger or the pleasure of watching the Destiny Ascension blow a hole through a Reaper or whatever. We still don't get to know whether Liara actually did witness the entire cycle, and we don't know how Shepard ultimately goes down or anything.
Overall, Extended Cut personally satisfied me as far as the original three choices went, but the defiance option had a lot of potential, and Bioware dropped that ball.
EC is great, but it squandered potential again.
