Games had lots of choices!
Now only three different voices!
Boy, what pros!

If having slow swords you hate!

If easter eggs you hate!
If slender-necked elves you hate!
If decency bras you hate!

Bioware just HAS to know!

Not to say that criticism is a bad thing.
But coming onto their network,
And saying "NO!"
Then you must go!

1. Original inspiration... that would have to be back on the DA2 forums. Someone did a parody of "We Didn't Start the Fire" that was titled (if I can recall correctly) "I Wanna Leave the Tower." It was a Billy Joel parody using the name of every spell in the DA universe. It was a work of art. Its part of why I waited so long to do my version of it and made sure it was as complete as possible, actually, since it was such a high bar standard.

I couldn't come up with a parody at the time to answer it, however. And the thread sinked into obscurity. After weeks of digesting the very concept (and listening to some musicals in my car... don't judge me! LOL) the idea for the Jesus Christ Superstar parody popped in and... well, it just kind of took a life of its own after that.

2. My favorite spoof is hard. Part of why is my process (which I'll discuss in question 3), but, in short, for a good day or so, these songs usually rattle around in my brain. So they are all pretty high on my list. But my "We Didn't Start the Fire" parody was EASILY my most time intensive, so it holds a special place for me. I was worried about doing any other parodies after that, actually, because they might not measure up, but I got over that. Aside from that, though, I think the "D@mned/Banned for All Time" one or my "Lola/Sten-a" parodies are the ones I could, without looking at them, sing the lyrics for. And that is something I find myself doing sometimes LOL.

My favorite spoof not-of-my-own creation would have to be, hands down, your Vakarian Rhapsody. I still pull that guy up for a laugh, marvelling at its brilliance. You have kept this thread alive just as much (if not more) than me at most points.

3. My process... well, as my wife, my friends or people at work can tell you... I get songs stuck in my head. All the time. It results in me tapping, humming, singing and even pathetically dancing to the grooves in my skull. This is, at times, extremely funny and at other times... terribly annoying. And, when I forget or don't know the lyrics to a song (or just feel like being silly), I'll change the lyrics. Usually to slip my dog's name, "Toby," into songs. Like belting out the lyrics to "Total Eclipse of the Tobes!" Its silly. I know.

That being said, as much time as I spend on the Bioware forums, it causes me to have Bioware topics on my brain. So whenever I get a song stuck in my head, its usually competing for space for a DA/ME/Bioware idea as well. Usually, it only takes one word to get started. For instance, I heard Kris Cross' "Jump, Jump" on the radio and was singing it to myself a few days ago, and then I saw someone bump a thread with the ubiquitous words "bump." And so I now had "Thread Bump!" looping in my head. After around an hour of this rattling around, I'll pull up the song lyrics, grab a YouTube video so I can get a feel for the rhythm and pull up the webpage http://www.rhymer.com/. Oh, and I'll usually pull up the Dragon Age/Mass Effect Wiki for random words or ideas. 

And, within less than an hour (except in the case of We Didn't Start the Fire/Bioware... man, that took a REALLY long time), I'll have a song. Whether or not its funny is debatable most times, I guess. I think the fact that I'm taking a silly topic and putting it into a song has enough entertainment value in and of itself, people just assume I'm a funny guy! Which is, again... quite debatable.

4. No, Dom... YOU farewell. You rock. As do all the excelllent peeps here on the BSN and the Off-Topic forums in particular.

Yes, this is EXACTLY my inspiration for the thread. I knew I wanted to touch on all of Bioware when I eventually did my own parody weeks later, so I put it in Off Topic, but yes. This was the epi-genesis of the entire thing.

Yes, this is EXACTLY my inspiration for the thread. I knew I wanted to touch on all of Bioware when I eventually did my own parody weeks later, so I put it in Off Topic, but yes. This was the epi-genesis of the entire thing.

I read your post and as soon as I saw "We Didn't Start the Fire" and parody I had to find it. We Didn't Start the Fire is one of the all time greatest songs.
