The Extended Cut managed to provide closure, however, it did not restore my faith in BioWare. Throughout my entire Extended Cut experience I felt enraged at the fact that this level of closure wasn't introduced into the game originally. As much as I was grateful that BioWare released something to appease our complaints, I was also angry that they didn't put this much care and concern into the rest of the game itself.

Although this really isn't new information to anyone who has played and/or invested in the Mass Effect trilogy, it's still an important issue to focus on. It simply pains me to see something as beloved as Mass Effect come crashing to this sort of conclusion. Unfortunately though, I doubt this will ever change.

For BioWare, it's apparent that this game is done. It's been released. They endings have been attended to and the community has 'essentially' been satisfied. All that's left is DLC. DLC that will more than likely contain more means of obtaining war assets than anything else. I also have no doubt in assuming that they will be over-priced and entirely unnecessary.

For instance, it was recently leaked that a future DLC titled Leviathan would incoporate a 'defector Reaper' as a 'powerful war asset.' In the most simplest terms, it's DLC that doesn't enhance the storyline it merely adds to player galactic readiness. I have no doubt in my mind this will have a price tag and it will not be worth our money.

If it were say the size of the Lair of the Shadow Broker from Mass Effect 2, I think I would understand a bit better but I highly doubt anything of that size will come out until the taking back Omega DLC is released. However, even the taking back Omega DLC seems rather silly when you think about. What possible advantage would Omega have in the grand scheme of the war against the Reapers. It seems just as fruitless as the Citadel Defense Force (which, if you didn't realize gets inevitably oblitherated when the Reapers take control of the Citadel).

What happened to my character development? What happened to the hour long conversations with my squadmates back in Mass Effect 1? What happened to expanding their stories?

I think it's fair to say that the community doesn't want an action-packed shoot 'em up DLC. In the end, it just wouldn't amount to anything. It would all be transferred into those god forsaken numbers in the War Assets terminal. To be fair, I personally wouldn't want to pay for some numbers and I doubt that community would as well.

All in all though, what I've been trying to say is that the Extended Cut was nice and I am grateful that BioWare provided closure, however, I am still upset at the current state of Mass Effect 3 and the potential future that is rumored to be in store for us.

Inevitably, as you can probably tell, my faith has not been restored. It's going to take a lot more than the Extended Cut for BioWare to restore my once passionate love for them. As of now, it's upsetting to see the trilogy end like this but there's much else BioWare can do about. I just hope that BioWare doesn't make the same mistake twice and that they never again subject us to the apparent and unprofessional laziness they displayed in Mass Effect 3, because, personaly, I think, by now, we deserve more than that.

But then again, maybe that's just me.
