There were too many romances in the trilogy to the point where it became silly

They could have just spent more time on the LI depth and thrown out the trash... ya know like Space ghost children and Diana Allers.

As much as I like having so many choices, I agree that it's pretty clear Bioware couldn't handle it. Having fewer romances, and a smaller cast(ME2 12 person cast was too much) would have been better for the writer team's focus, would have had more character development. Don't ask me who should have been cut though, because I love them all. (except Liara. Sorry, just yeah)

I think part of the negative reaction to the ending is a result of a fan base that has been so spoiled rotten by all the fan service(it goes beyond just the romances if you ask me). Bioware lost their artistic integrity the moment they put a race of blue babes that can have sex with anything in this game.

All games have some sort of fanservice. Sure, the asari are clearly a fanservice, but that doesn´t mean they can´t give them an interesting background and story. I especially find their philosophies interesting.
Miranda was clearly also fanservice, but that doesn´t mean she wasn´t an interesting character you wanted to know more about.

what they should have done is kept all the me1 and me2 LI and NOT introduce any others, instead, develope those romances in me3 EQUALLY deep.

Hear, hear!

Due to the sheer number most didn't have any depth either. Had Bioware focused on just a few each one would have been special.

I recogonize people have different tastes but Bioware indulges in too much fan service by making anyone and everyone a possible LI. Then inevitably people feel shafted when it's apparent "their romance" didn't get the attention it deserved.

Agree. I think there were too many squad members in ME2 and the SM make ME3 so difficult to work because of many possibilities. That's why they cut a lot of content for ME2 LI.

I've been spreading around this poll, could you all take a look at it? (please, read everything, not just the options, and then choose one honestly):

http://social.biowar...2&poll_id=35922

I think it should be done something similar with other ME2 LIs... they should have had a better treatment, so if you want to create polls for other characters we could put them all together, spread them and if we get enough votes send a link to Bioware to let them know that want all the romances to be treated equally.

It's not that there were too many romances, it's more that Bioware were too lazy to expand on them.

Just to point out, ME2 had the most chars. ME3 had the least. Yet it was ME3 that failed.

Blaming ME2 for the huge cast is stupid as ME2 managed to pull it off. ME3 did not, with a limited cast..

Well, I blame walters for all the romances that were shafted. Any resources that could have been use to make the sidelined romances more deep were used on his waifu.

You're silly, so silly. But I agree, they're were too many - but I wouldn't want them to cut Jack - so I'm being biased, haha.

Wrong.

Addendum: Now that I think out, there definetly should have been one less romance.
We all know which one I'm talking about.
Hint: She may or may not have been a bribe to IGN.

I doubt that.
I believe that is EA's fault, not Bioware's.

ME2 could probably have done with a couple less.  Hell, ME2 should probably have had fewer party members.

ME2 romances don't all deliver. I hope I can add the word "yet".

I think that a big number of fans can agree, that the top of the DLC wishlist is occupied by either

1. Show me my war assets DLC
2. Expand the ME2 chars story arcs DLC
with option nr 2 being the less likely (recording dialogue with full cast is probably too expensive)

Diversity among the romance option is something to be applauded, not despised.
I think that quite a big bunch would like even more romances, if they would be at least on Steve Cortez level (I think he is among the best ones, and asking for his romance to be a lower bound for all of them, is not asking too much imho; and I'm talking about the amount and quality of dialogue, not the depth - I think Vega could work as a "funny" romance option)

Too many romances? Not enough development.
Too few romances? Everybody wants XYZ character as a romance.

Can't win really.

The more romances the better. Still waiting on Kasumi/Vega/Joker/Many more.

Can't please everyone lol some want, some want less. But I think what we all really want is just that they are all treated fairly and well written.

The issue to me is the poor handling of the Mass Effect 2 Characters in general not taking into account them as Love Intrests or not I mean Damn everyone of them can die and some I can handle "Mordin,Thane,Legion" but the rest is just pathetic.

The problem Bioware found themselves with was they had entirely too many Characters and they had to have cameo's at the least but they also decided in the name of drama to make them all killable in the Final Chapter.

And on the Romance Front they had the same problem to many options as well thats why alot of the Romances are lacking in Mass Effect 3 and why some were out right destroyed "Thane & Jacob"

Another thing I think James Vega & Joker should have been Options for Female Shepard I mean damn there are a total of 2 Hetero options just 2 Garrus & Kaiden and both could die in the previous games.

I wouldn't mind a Cortez level Romance with Kasumi because Kasumi is amazing.

I quite liked Allers, actually, if that's who you're talking about; and she wasn't a romance any more then Kelly was.
