I have been unfairly banned from ME3 multiplayer. I have reached 2265 N7 rating (that’s just to show how I love this game) and opened nearly all guns without using a single cheat. But one beautiful day it turned out that it was all in vain. I was banned for an unknown reason. It is likely that someone didn’t’ like my play or maybe I looked like a cheater, so, I was reported, I guess. I wrote to account admin, but he never explained reasons for ban, here is the letter:

Dear Bioware employee,

I seem to be unable to play multiplayer in Mass Effect 3, and I suspect this may be the result of a ban. However, I never used any cheats and software for game exploiting. Could you please clarify if it is ban and if it is, what are the reasons for it. Moreover, I kindly ask you to review my case.

Platform: PC

Origin ID: ***********

Kind regards,

DynkanGrey

After a day or so I received a letter, which didn’t provide an answer, but puzzled me instead:

Hello, I have taken a look into your account and can confirm that you have been banned for exploiting multiplayer. We take cheating very seriously and we have decided that this ban will be permanent.

I assume there is no point in writing to the account admin, as they didn’t give me neither the reason for ban, nor the time I “exploited”. So, I was reported, and they didn’t check it. The result is that I can’t play anymore just for playing with a person who didn’t like me.

So as I understand they ban innocent players, I have friends with same stories – several month of enjoying the game and *poof* random ban. The morale is that no one is safe – if you don’t use cheats there is no guarantee you will not be banned. You are reported –  it is investigated  – you are banned.
And you are like:

Everyone who has ever been banned from anything in the entire world 'did nothing wrong'.

The moral is you cheated, got caught, and now you're trying to weasel your way out of it.

You say that you have friends with the same stories? Do you by any chance play together?

It may be that someone in the circle of friends may have had a modded game, and by doing so, have made you all "guilty" (although you not knowing about it) in exploiting.

Either that or someone needs to get their facts straigth.

You probably used the rocket glitch or credit glitch.

Cheaters get what they deserve, bioware does not ban for nothing.

Well, I do imagine it isn't just one report that got you banned, I imagine that if two or three people said you had cheated, then you got in trouble. Now, I don't know you, but I'm willing to take a chance and believe that you're not lying right now, and you haven't cheated. There should be some way to overturn this stuff. Like a petition or something, cause, like I'm willing to believe in your case, you might have gotten railroaded...

I am pretty sure I didn't break "tier one" rules (those which result in ban). All I wanted was a constructive dialog and awareness of the reasons for ban.

And yeah, you can check my manifest to see there is nothing extraordinary to be suspicious.

My question Op:

Did you exploit the credit glitch

Or

The infinite rocket glitch

I mean from your manifest we cant say anything, you could've glitched your way there or you could've spammed missiles without us knowing it :)

Hope to get a reply to resolve your problem ;)

This is why you play private matches and don't deal with PUGs.

I doubt that Bioware bans innocent players.

That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

I would write back and ask why. You have the right to know, at least, if it were me, I'd want to know.

Well, some of us don't have IRL friends to play with on ME3... I guess one could do only solo, but you're losing a lot of the fun by doing so

I didn't exploit the credit glitch and the last time I played before the ban was even before I found out that there was cobra missile gllitch (yeah, I took a break from playing then). If only you could resolve my problem... :)

Moreover, even credit glitch belongs to "tier two", which results in credit wipe, not permanent ban.

Tier two offenses will get you banned also, except in some cases when you reported yourself.

You might have joined credit exploit lobby and left after 1 minute. This is all they need to ban you. You were part of exploiting lobby, knowingly or not. This is an example though, I don't know the reason for your ban.

Any game company worth their salt doesn't just automatically ban people because someone said they were a cheater.  They usually have some way in which to check server logs about their matches to see if there's any suspicious behavior (ie - rockets used 20 times, despite the max being 5).

As ABjerre said though, it may have been one of your friends too.  If they made a lobby with some kind of mod to make things easier, you're all implicated.  Again though, this wouldn't be something automatic after it happened one time.  People might jump into a random match with a modder and not realize it.  So if it was a friend modding, then you must've been in a lot of matches with them...which makes it look like you knew about it.

Honestly though, I can't say that I've ever had a single friend in a single game that was ever banned for cheating.  In all my years of playing online multiplayer (7 years on my XBL account, and old Battle.net for a long time before that) I've also never heard of a company randomly banning innocent players.  So, if you have a lot of friends with the same story about getting banned for no reason, and you're not cheating, then they are and it's time to find new friends.

I doubt they ban on a single report. I would be more inclined to believe they investigate someone after a number of similar reports.

Unfair bans can happen. I've known it to happen in other games. No system is flawless.

Not siding with anyone, but I don't see the need to bear teeth unless it's someone you actually witnessed cheating and/or being a d-bag about it.

Private owner of software. They make up the rights. I believe the only rights anyone has are dictated by thier area consumer laws, and those usually only cover rights to refunds.

Methinks you are correct infamous. He can't show anything.

The entire thread is one big accusation, and is worded as such.

I choose to believe Bioware.

Offtopic: I was unjustly banned from alterIWnet MW2 a few years back. Went to the forums and wrote an apeal for removing my ban. They gave me video proof of me "cheating", bad quality low resolution and only 10 seconds in length. I gave them the entire round recorded in 720p. They said "We are sorry" and lifted the ban.

Not Everyone is guilty. Probably the OP's case is the same as mine, but I can't be sure until BW  show him the evidence.

I like how it is easier to assume that the op lied compared to bioware making a mistake
