Why does Shepard have to die in the Control/Synthesis endings?
In the Control ending, Shepard is now a Reaper god. She could easily download her old self's consciousness into a robot body. It might even be possible with reaper tech to create an organic body. The information that comprised her original dna/mind are still there.
In the Synthesis ending, something similiar could have been done. Since all life is now both organic/synthetic and the knowledge of the reapers is shared with all of the galaxy's races someone like Shepard's love interest, the Alliance military, Cerberus or the Shadow Broker could construct Shepard a new body. Project Lazarus 2.0. The information that comprised her original dna/mind is still there somewhere, it would just be a matter of someone finding it and resurrecting Shepard.
I think that if the writers wanted to force Shepard to be dead they should have written it in a way that was plausible within the framework of the universe they created. I don't see why Shepard has to be dead.
