First off, I really liked the EC - in particular, the memorial wall scene, which I felt did a really good job of having everyone mourn the loss of Shepard.

That being said, many of the characters included in that scene can be dead. I wonder how few you can have?

Theoretically, you can:

-Have Garrus and Tali die during the suicide mission (or have Tali die on Rannoch)
-Kill the VS during the coup
-Not recruit Javik
-Have Steve die in London

Leaving you with Vega, EDI, and Liara in terms of squaddies. If you have a low enough EMS, two can die during the beam run - however, if your EMS was that low, do you also get the "Vaporize Earth" ending if you pick Destroy, and therefore no Memorial Wall scene? 

If not, then you can have Liara and Vega die during the beam run, and then pick Destroy, which kills EDI....leaving only Traynor (?) to put up your plaque....LOL.

If yes, then you can pick Control, and then only EDI and Traynor would be there, correct?

Bolded bit. If your EMS is low enough that that happens, then you pick Destroy, chances are you get no-one surviving on the Normandy. Not sure about control.

It's actually very hard to get a low enough EMS to destroy the earth.  You REALLY have to work at it as in do NO side missions, get none of the extra war assets and so on.  I believe you can easily get at least a medium if not high EMS ending without Garrus (died in ME2 is the easiest way), certainly without Tali (but only if you reject peace between the Quarians and Geth making it harder to get EMS), Steve will autodie if you don't talk to him with minimal Asset Loss (you won't get rogue pilots), you don't have to kill VS.  Simply order VS to Adm Hackett (this actually gives you War Assets).  Not recruiting Javik only costs 100 EMS....not the end of the world. 

Liara is unkillable.  If your EMS is low enough for Liara to die in the beam, you won't get the memorial scene.  Vega is unkillable as well (unless everyone dies).  Joker is unkillable.  EDI is unkillable UNLESS you pick 'Destroy'.

So it looks like three is your bare minimum.

Same with control.  Earth is not destroyed but no one survives in the Normandy AFAIK.

You don't actually see it.  If you have a low EMS, you stumble over her body on the way to the beam.

Before the EC, there was no actual scene, you would just see your squadmates bloodied body on the ground on the way to the beam (a bit morbid IMO...)

Now there's that scene. I have to say I may have enjoyed watching Liara get fried a little too much

I stand corrected.  I played the low EMS with the new EC from the beam of light forward so I missed it.  Apparently the EC added it.

No.  A dev explained it the same day.  It's supposed to 'forshadow' that your LI will be reunited with Shepard and thus Shep is not dead.  Why they couldn't just PUT a reunion scene in is beyond me....but it's not a glitch.

My LI was Miranda.

But I did talk to Garrus the most. He was my bro, so I didn't have an issue with the scene.

Well I think Garrus was subbed for your LI then for that scene since Miranda is obviously not going to be on the Normandy.  Anyway that was my understanding.

Yes.

To keep him alive you must meet with him 3 times on the Citadel.
