My default for my mic is OFF because I tend to swear a lot (and loudly) when things are going wrong in-game.

So I was playing for a couple missions that were going wrong in-game and swearing copiously when we were on wave 10 and down to our last player trying to get us the money. I go to put my mic to ON so I can guide them on incoming enemies....and realise it's been ON all the time!

So apologies to my team-mates.

If you happen to hear me over the mic then that means your screwing with my money or the games constant constant constant inconsistant bugs are annoying me.

Yes, the other reason my default is OFF. Cause I also talk to the cat between waves sometimes.....

When i join a match in proggres and A girl said "Oh crap, that's NOFX"  

Now i check my mic before getting into the MP

I often have to wonder if this happens more regularly than you'd expect. One guy on my friends' list loves to chat on his phone while in the middle of the match. It's kind of distracting (and rude, in my opinion). Been in matches where it sounds like I'm playing with an entire Mexican family on the other end of the mic, which is also sort of irritating. And LOUD.

Player chat is cool (providing you're not one of the three bros I was playing with that yelled "It's me, motherf'**ker!" after every single kill) but background noise is a bit annoying.

 Yes, this can be embarrassing lol 

I have a family so if I accidentally leave my mic on I could be saying .."no you cannot have brownies!" or "do you speak english? didn't I tell you to put that away?" sort of stuff to my kids LOL. 

I have the XP400 Turtlebeaches and sometimes I don't even know when my mic is on or off- I put myself on mute whenever possible to eliminate background noise from my family.  

Most often however I'm in a private party with my friends and they get to hear me be mom+gamer and they lol all the time because it gets funny.

lol. this has never happened to me. but i have been in lobbies with people that don't know their mic is on. heard some pretty....ummm......"strange" things at times...lol

Astro a40 filters all mumble-ish sounds and all music and weird sources of music so im fine

Picked up a set of these a couple of months ago, OMG they are amazing, herd sounds in games I never herd before!
