Yes, the other reason my default is OFF. Cause I also talk to the cat between waves sometimes.....Image IPB
Are you using "cat" as a euphemism for something else?...Image IPB
Actually, speaking of the cat...as in the feline...I was in the lobby of a Gold match that just went go when he leaped through the cat door with a huge fricking rat in his mouth and proceeded to run into my bedroom and jump on my bed with it!

If my mic was on this would have been what was heard:

"That better not be a rat you got there...WTF?...expletive, expletive...arghhh...Gold Match starting you sod....(headphones thrown off...thump of running feet...cat growling....door opening and shutting...headphones thrown back on)...unbelievable...seriously?"

Joys of urban living?  Haven't seen a rat since I lived in city.  Mice, yes, plenty.  Rats?  Nooooo, thankfully.

Had a friend forget his mic was on once, and was remarking about a squadmates name saying, "Wow XXX what a ****ing stupid name."

He immediately said, "Excuse me?"

My friend suddenly left the game and lol's were had.

It's funny when there is quiet on a person's mic and then you hear an angry parent at the other end.

Only happened once. I think they only heard me laugh like a dork, though. I think. I hope...

No mic= No embarrassment

I already get anxious when I play multiplayer because I suck so bad and just want EMS points. I quit after I almost had a freaking panic attack. I hate you so much, social anxiety. :P

Once I get to 100% Galactic readiness, I don't have to play anymore, right?:crying:

I tend to sing to myself when playing. Random songlines that fit whatevers going on on the screen. Don't know why, but once I get a mic, probably next week, i hope I don't forget and start doing that while its on.

I never have my mic in unless I'm playing with people or at least two others do.

He is... playing with... himself.

Ahh, so "talking to the cat" really was a euphemism.

An entirely different kind of game is being discussed here![smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

I don't have a mic plugged in, but sometimes I get paranoid that something in my computer is capable of transmitting voice somehow (crazy, I know) because my mic icon for some reason isn't red in spite of me not having one. That stupid little icon is making me feel very self-conscious.

I'm generally pretty careful about this, as I have a tendency to yell at on-screen enemies, or chat with my roommate about how terrible the PUG I am in is.. I actually find that the opposite happens a lot more to me. I'll be in a chatty lobby, wondering why no one is talking to me, or listening to my warnings about the phantom sneaking up on us... only to notice my mic mute's been on the whole game. :-/

I usually check my microphone is muted before playing a game. It's become a habit since the last time I played AC Revelations, someone killed me several times in a row and I started raging at them (sore loser and all). Only to realise my microphone was actually on, and that no doubt they'd heard everything I said (would've made my great grand mother was my mouth out with soap a dozen or so times).

Not only that, I tend to rage at enemies for killing me in cheap situations, or at other players for not using a missile when mine were out on wave 10. Happened yesterday when a phantom insta-killed me. She (the phantom) was promptly showered with enough expletives to curdle milk. My mic was on because I yet again forgotten to check and my sister plays GTA: IV with it on. :pinched:

I was playing a pug gold with what may have been the worst team ever(wipe on wave 3)..during the farce I made several very unflattering comments about my team mates their skills and their ancestry in general....then I realised I had left the mic on...they didnt say anything so hopefully they didnt speak english and thought that monkey was a term of endearment.
So errr sorry guys.

Happens to me all the time...

Always at the worst moments.

I turn the mic on for a second to say something and get distracted by my brother or something and then just lift the mic up instead of turning it off.

I flip it down when I am done and assume it is off then begin calling my cat... which anyone with a cat knows how stupid calling a cat sounds sometimes... *Facepalm*

"Come here little baby... awwwww come 'ere kitty kitty!! Good boy!!!"

-"What the hell dude... why did you call me kitty?"

"OH F***!!!!!!!"

I was whistling "Incy Wincy Spider" as I was delivering the pizza and realised the mic was on. Oh dear. Quickly turned it off and blushing silence.

Don't sweat it you will be amazed at how much you improve if you keep playing.  It's just a matter of finding the right class for you.

Had a similar experience myself, treated me to a headset a week ago and usually play in the evenings.
Anyone with kids will tell you as soon as you need to concentrate they go bersek. In the middle of a silver match they decided to have a row so I shout "STOP FIGHTING YOU TWO" and the whole team were like WTF why?
Needless to say quit after the match red in the face
