Personally I loved the game and most of the role playing aspects about it, one thing that really got to me though, as it does in most RPG's is the fact that your characters name is never really addressed in game.

Whenever someone speaks to your character they only refer to them as Grey Warden, honestly I wouldn't mind picking from a perdetermined set of names and voices at character creation if your player was then addressed as such and spoke to other NPC's/Allies.

I'm not sure how other players would like this idea, it would certainly limit character creation a bit but you could still fully customize appearances, only voices and names would be limited. I suppose it would also cause the production cost of the game to go up as well, though you could just limit the player to chooseing from a limited number of "heros" so to speak. it just feels weird playing a game where an ally is clearly talking to me and my only response is a text box that isn't spoken when I choose what to say.

Anyways just thought I'd put it out there, maybe someone will consider it, and great game!

Or they could just refer to you by your last name a la Mass Effect. Lord such and such, Warden whatever, etc. Each of the six origins had a unique last name, why not use them a bit more.

Yeah that would work, I remember one point in the game the proving master says he'll just call me Grey Warden, because those elven names are such a mouth full.

My guys name was Alim for crying out loud XD.

I'd rather not be limited with names, I enjoy being creative on that part. Being called by a title works for me.

I'd personally like to have more options on backgrounds ;) Avvar is one, and maybe even Qunari. I am also hoping that in the first expansion they may let us out of Ferelden and into Orlais. They have the 'world' map on the site as a background, as well as in the rpg book. A choice in that game is a fereldan freemason. I must say I'm excited to play that game as well as start a new character on the pc game :) my new task is to locate all codecs I keep missing a few.

I know of a game that actually does this, (can't remember the name of it right now as it was my brother playing it not me) though the main character was always a man, and his name was always the same... actually I don't think you could customize him at all xD

It could be far to high in cost with a game such as this, where you really can go through as many different types of characters.

I don't think I ever heard or saw someone call me by my character's last name. Other than a random lady before the landsmeet saying something like "You're that Cousland's kid aren't you?" Other than that~ nothing.

I would much rather have better/more clothes than voice in all honesty. Though a voice for the main character would be liked.

You have some good points Faithfully Deviant, mostly what I was thinking was getting maybe like 4 voice actors/actresses maybe a few more for the main characters, then the player simply picks which to use for spoken text in game, all other options as far as looks go would still be fully customizeable.

Still it would be limiting as if someone wanted to make a character a certain look their voice would no doubt sound odd with the look. As BardHarbringer said you could just have the character addressed by their surname in game, since you couldn't change that anyways.

More armor/clothes would be nice as well, esp ones for mages, there were only two robes in the entire game I would let Morrigan wear, the mages ones just look retarded on her. You'd think they would have cloth armor with runes worked into them as well or slots for runes anyways since they are mages.

Would be cool if they added a mod to do that, then change some runes to give abilities if socketed into armor, say +5 fire damage turns into +5 to fire spellpower or something of the sort.

i would like to see the archtypes more fleshed out, and include a healer archtype for christs sake!. the game practically relies on a healer and theres like 5, 6 spells that are actually healer based. This game relies on a lot of MMO tactics and if MMOs can make a whole bunch of healer based classes then bioware could defenately make some quality ones. its not like its an optional thing to have really, you kind of need one unless you are using some kind of advanced tactic or a horde of potions.

just as well more abilities that let the other classes fill in their roles as well.

to me if a player feels forced to lower the difficulty, thats a fail for the game. not the player. a game should provide the player with adequet abilities and tips and such so that they know what to do and it is specifically something they did wrong if they lose.

so i would prefer the sequal go in such a way that as long as you have one warrior, one rogue, and one mage (and a healer if that archtype is added) then you should be at least ABLE to take down anything that is presented. Necessary spells that the game is balanced around (like healing spells) should either come with the mage from the start or they should be automatically learned at certain intervals.

its not fair or fun to allow a player to build their party any way they want, then watch as they get thrashed. Its better, and more fun for all, to instead provide all of the spells and abilities that are necessary and have the player pick the little extras.

for instance at level..say..8 the mage would automatically learn heal, as at that point in the game it becomes more necessary lets say. Then the player could spend their ability point on something they think is cool without worrying about getting necessar abilities just to survive. a game that did this really well (its actually foreign) is sword chronicals.

Sword chronicals had a system where you had knights, berserkers, archers, and priests. Instead of just letting the player screw themselves over with stupid choices the game instead tiped you on the jobs of each of these types of characters. Each type automatically came with all of the abilities to fulfill their class. Knights came with taunt type abilities etc, right from the start. Then as they went on in level they would automatically learn certain abilities.

this allowed the game to prevent the player from entering an area they perhaps wernt prepared for. A warning would pop up stating that you are not of proper strength and that this particular spot would prove very difficult for you. It didnt stop you, but it at least told you that you wernt ready for it yet. Then when you did reach that level the game MADE SURE you were prepared by providing you with the necessary abilities and allowing you to pick the other abilities that may not be necessary but fun. sadly it suffered from horrible story syndrom and wasnt very long, or else id still be playing that instead of DA:O.

but if this happened in the sequal, itd take the cake.

It'd be awesome if DA2 was a sort of parallel story set on an entirely different continent, ongoing at the same time as the events depicted in DA:O.

and DA3 would be a whole different experience depending on the results of combining the end-game-saves of DA:O and DA2 ^_^ <3

Moving decisions forward into a sequel without the main protagonist? Kind of a neat idea.
