So, I finished the EC and decided to go New Game Plus and get the Insanity Achievement for the heck of it. I'm playing a Vanguard and...OH. MY. GOD.
This is painfully difficult. 1000 health and 1000 barriers and they can drop me like a rock so fast its not even funny. I must have died 10 times on the first atrium area of Grissom Academy alone. These grenades are one hit KOs for me.
Any suggestions on Guns/Armor/Bonus Powers I should use because this is painfully hard.
Currently, I'm using a Preditor VII Pistol, 8-Avenger X, and a leveled up Locust SMG (Can't remember what level it is now and I havn't really used it). Only use those because, in my previous playthrough, I really didn't have a reason to buy any other weapons.
My Bonus Power is Barrier (from my Bro, Kaidan) and I typically have Garrus and Kaidan in my Squad at all times, though James and EDI are probably going to be what I resort to till the Cerberus attack on the Citadel. I could probably use some suggestions on what guns to give each Squaddie too. Slightly wish they could switch out their guns on their own like how they use powers on their own.
Of my regular powers, I've got everything but Cryo Ammo leveled
Probably of all the things that are killing me are Grenades, which pretty much one hit me, and having to deal with sheilded enemies, which I have no way of dealing with except Nova and Charge, which take me into close range and I can't do that.
I can just tell that London is going to be a pain in the ass for me.
Please and thanks for the answers.

Spec Kaidan for area reave, and take liara with warp and stasis bubble (maybe singularity if you wish but is not necessary with a max stasis with bubble). For nova go for recharge, not double blast and go crazy with biotic explosions. Nova with pierce can deal with shields easy. Remember to nova before charge as it lowers cooldown times and charge will restore your shields regardless. Just carry a graal with extended barrel and spare ammo. That keeps a low cooldown, can fire at all ranges, and ignores shield gate and armor damage reduction on enemies.
And while noobie, you can combat pause! When enemies spawn, use the power menu to combat pause and take a look around. You can choose mobs to use primers like reave and stasis or when your shields are gone, pause and leisurely choose the best target to charge to safety.

Why are you carrying so many weapons? do you actually use them all or could you stand to not use so many at the same time. less weapons=faster biotic charge recharge=more barriers. You may also not want to use barrier as it will drop your recharge rate even more.

Talon pistol was meant for a vanguard. Perfect match, if you have it that is. If not it can be found during Priority Citadel.

I actually have max recharge, I think. +200 to recharge and everything goes fast enough for me. Maybe 2 second cool down on Pull, which I pretty much spam whenever I see red health bar. Whee! Everyone's flying across the battlefeild! lol
Anyways, Just hit Level 60. Finally.
And, I still have pleanty of Credits for me to go on one giant shopping spree.
I'll look into what you guys suggested but I'm a bit odd about Liara. Everytime I've brought her along before now, She usually dies. Died about 2 or 3 times on Mars for some reason, even more so later. But, I'm also unsure if I took the upgrades you suggested. And, come to think of it, I believe the Alternate Appearences give the squaddies power ups or something.
And, I did know I can combat pause with the power wheel, though, by the time I realize things have gone down the crapper, I don't really have many options. Either die by the guys surrounding me or jump to the group halfway across the feild, and then die.
Any suggestions on Armor? The Basic N7 seems to have the best defensive stats, providing quite a bit of health.

I've only played Vanguard on Hardcore, went with basic N7 armor. Dominated with Reave as my bonus power, reave + nova = boom. I'd imagine on insanity I would have to alter my play still with less reaving and more charging. Reave was specced for damage reduction.
