They still didn't include Anderson's cut dialogue...

View it here.

I just really, really, don't see viable reason as to why this was cut. No romance? Doesn't mean Shepard can't hook up in the future. Homosexual/Inter-spiecies Shepard? Adoption. It adds so much more emotion and makes Anderson's death that much more tragic. It's the fact the dialogue was -RIGHT THERE- for them to add in.

Bleh.

There's also the fact that some characters can't procreate what so ever with shepard, even if they're a hetrosexual relationship, in the cases of Garrus, Tali, and Miri. I think there was also some plot issue of Anderson's past with kids or something. Can't remember where I read that though.

I've heard that the dialogue is in the game, but only accessible if you didn't romance anyone. I've no idea if that's actually true. Actually, it strikes me s a little weird (I'd think they would replace the dialogue with something else if you had a love interest instead of just cutting it, as that results in a much shorter goodbye scene between Anderson and a Shepard who has a love interest).

Yeah, a big chunk of the cut dialogue came from Anderson breaking the ice by stating how he never had a family or kids, but it was established in the books along with LotSB that he did, though it was in a similar state of being distant much like Bailey's family.

Odd that it'd be written up in the first place.

Maybe the writers said "Screw it. I'm writing something emotional!"? I've done that before.

I don't think it would have been overly difficult to just tweak the line. Just change it to "I was never close with my family" or something like that. I feel like that moment was really monumental in defining the parent/child figures they were to each other, and it was a shame to me to see that cut out.

I agree, TC. I was really hoping for this to be added in.

Are they crazy? That's one of the best dialog I ever heard in this game. (And this means a lot in ME). It's a shame....

Would have made Anderson's death twice as touching, IMO.

personally, I would have hated hearing my Shepard say yeah, settling down sounds great. besides that, how would Shepard know if Anderson had family already. It doesn't sound like they've shared much personal details.

I was born in London. *stares at Shepard out of the corner of his eye*

I can tell you why they cut it.

It ruins the flow and doesn't fit. It would be too much, too crowded, and frankly, it isn't as amazing as some of you are making it out to be. Is it good dialog? Sure. Did the scene work beautifully without it? Yes.

It worked beautifully, but it could have worked even better. After listening to it, then viewing the scene again, it definitely feels much shorter than it should have been for such a major character.

I really enjoyed the cut dialogue, it is a shame they didn't include it.

It wasn't included because Anderson's dialogue is actually incorrect. He was married before.

Anderson was married and had a son I believe. The lore behind the dialogue was incorrect. That being said, it was rather heartwarming and tearjerking that he approves of Shepard and thinks of him as a son/daughter more than his own child.

Anderson's extra dialogue was pointless and innacurate.

In Revelation and LotSB, Anderson is mentioned to be married/divorced and to have a son he has little contact with.

Shep would've had the option to say he/she didn't see him/herself settling down. Least I recall a variation where Shepard responded to Anderson that way.
