I originally meant to post this in this section, but posted it in General Discussion instead. It got locked, I can only assume because of potential spoilers. So I'm re-posting it here in the proper section.
One of my biggest gripes with both the original ending and the EC is the
fact that our choices throughout the games didn't matter. It didn't
matter if you saved the Council or not, it didn't matter if you killed
the Rachni queen or killed her, it didn't matter if you destroyed the
Collector base or preserved it, etc. etc.
I went into ME3
expecting, as many did, to see the ultimate outcome my choices had on
the future of the galaxy when all is said and done. But I didn't. I
thought for sure the EC would rectify that flaw and everything would be
good. It didn't.
I was angry, very angry, as you can tell by my
posts the last couple of days. Then I was depressed. Now I find myself
wondering if it isn't better this way, since the fact we don't know the
impact our choices had allows us to speculate and imagine for
ourselves.
I'm not sure if I'm in denial and am grasping at straws to try to
salvage the endings, or I'm moving into a state of acceptance where I
can put things in perspective.
At
any rate, I thought I'd ask your opinion on the matter. Is the outcome
of our decisions better left to speculation? Or should we have been
shown?
Is speculation better?
