Why men want beards?

It's simple. See, men are competitive creatures. Everyone wants to be the alpha male.

And since the dawn of time, deep withing our genes the image of the perfect man, the ulimate Alpha Male has been branded for all eternity.

It is this ideal of manliness that every men, conciously or not, aspires to.

Because I can't grow one :'(

Me either.:crying:

All I have is a goatee.

lol I can grow a beard 'Alqaeda style'

Something that really annoys me is that my facial hair is pure black and I don't like it. I wish it had the same color as my head-hair (dark brown) so I would even think about growing a moustache:(

I have a full beard on occasion during the winter, but I almost always have a goatee. I'm bald, so there's no way I'm going clean shaven top and bottom.

Because of my Nova Scotian/Irish-Canadian heritage, it is a must for me to have a nice beard. Also it keeps my face warm in winter, also most of the women I meet usually like a man with a beard. Probably helps me look more of my age too.

Because I look scary and looking scary is fun. Women are overrated. Plus I also look dignified and refined.

Data explains it best.

I don't know why but a lot of my friends are growing out really thick burly beards. I'm trying to convince them that there is no way they're gonna get laid with a thick nasty beard like that but they will risk not getting laid just to grow a beard. Why? Why is having such a thicknasty beard so important? I think a little facial hair (like a Gerard Butler four a clock shadow) looks nice but only on older men... not dudes in their early twenties. Please explain the importance of facial hair to my naive female brain.

I love my beard. It's... I don't know. When you're a little boy you can't wait to grow one. And when you finally get one to come in thick and fantastically you want to keep it.

Then there's the fact that grooming the beard is more work than just letting one grow in. And the fact that you look more manly with a beard. And the fact that, true story, sometimes beards are good conversation starters with other men.

That said if your beard goes to your nipples it's too long.

i always wanted a beard. but no real shaving issus till around 25-ish. i got so used to look clean shaved i was shocked that i now have to shave twice a day to not look like a wookie.

if i wanted i need only one week to grow a stache. but no interest in it at all anymore.
