Considering the Panglossian, freaky utopic overtones, I think this was the general idea. "Peace" evidently is achieved by forcing every one to think exactly alike.

Peace is evidently achieved by having everyone get along, not thinking alike.

I personally don't buy it anyway. I think of the ending to Alan Moore's Miracleman where the main character basically offers godhood to anyone who wants it, and many people do, but some, including the character's wife, reject it. And he doesn't understand why.

Shepard may have forced Synthesis onto the galaxy, but I'm not going to assume everyone took it lightly. EDI saw the positive in it, and her narration reflects that. I'm sure if Javik had narrated it, it would have been much different.

I'm going to see something dystopian about all the possible choices, by the way. My perfect ending was the one where all the mass relays were destroyed, thus destroying all reaper technology and forcing all civilizations to build their own future.

This is something I've asked about Synthesis and haven't received an answer - what happens if there are disagreements between synthesized entities? Are the problems solved via consensus, and is one party 'forced' to go with the decision? Can groups splinter, or are they completely bereft of free-will and independence?

The answer is probably that you do not get your happily ever after.

True. Synthesis is the worst ending, when I see my crew with that green crap in their face I can only think "They didn't want this!". Seeing Wrex with that green crap, smiling. No way he'd smile after that! I refuse to choose synthesis on new playthroughs, it just goes against everything my Shepard stands for.

This, seeing Wrex smiling obliviously like an idiot with those green things on his face made me realize that whatever Sythesis did, what was left were not the people I knew. Whatever they are, they are no longer themselves. They might even be happy, but they are no longer themselves.

I created a bunch of things, and destroyed a bunch of people.

Evil ending choice, yep.

My question is what do these synthesis things do a few generations down the road when they come across a purely organic thing, do they all scream and point like in The Body Snatchers, do they kill it, or just overwhelm it and take it to the chamber of machines, and warp it into somthing else.

From this point on, is any newly evolved organic life exterminated or changed on sight?

One thing that gets me is when new organics form out of the shadows they would be forced to convert and start another war.

Catalyst: Now that we know it is possible, synthesis is inevitable.
Shepard: Then it's over. That's the solution. We all evolve naturally toward synthesis. You can rid the galaxy of the Reapers and we can all go home.
Catalyst: ...
Catalyst: No, but ... you have to pick a color.
Shepard: @$%#!!!

That pretty much hammers home that the Catalyst is ****ing with you...
In case you didn't get that impression when it took the form of the child you watched its henchmen murder in front of you...
