I got this on Amazon recently.
It installed fine, ran it, and a barely visible window popped up, with a play button. I clicked that, got told there was an update, so I installed the update.
It now says 1.04
When I click play, the window closes, a new "Dragon Age II" icon appears in the dock, and nothing else happens.
Game doesn't start

Update: i force quit it and ran it again and it now works.
Also the "support" button redirects to bioware.com which is not very helpful

Signal boost. I'm having the exact same problem (Mid-2012 MacBook Pro Retina), only updating didn't fix it. Can anyone suggest a workaround? I tried to find a preferences file to change the default resolution to one that would be compatible with my screen (1440 x 900), but couldn't locate it.

you could try to set the resolution of the game to the native resolution of your screen
or at least something with the same AR.
that should do the trick.
