I still believe Jack was originally intended to be a companion. Why else would they pay so much attention to overhauling her appearance? No other cameo character got the same treatment. Completely changed character model, a spot in the art book, heck her clothes even have weapon slots on the back. Why? Probably cause they made her character model early in development when she was intended to be a fully fledged companion, then cut her back to a cameo.
It makes me sad to think about. Shes one of my favorite characters.
Jack is one of my favourites as well, it would of been great to have her as a playable character again, as you say why do such a overhaul & then limit her to a cameo,
I romanced Miranda, would of loved to have seen her as a playable, alas all we can do i hope

no, i dont want every ME 2 character to play a big role... Jack and Miranda are both not important if you think about it.... they dont even have any huge impact on the rest of the galaxy.
They have an important impact on SHEPARD. On the bolded, you can say that to every squadmate, even Liara - who lacks the ability to be a good Shadow Broker, but that's the writers fault, IMO.
Jack doesn't have to have a big impact on Shepard.
Miranda of course since she's the head scientist that brought him back to life.

Miranda's personal mission to not join up on the Normandy felt pretty weak to me. She easily could've went onto the Normandy and have Liara use resources to help her search for her sister. She only really needed to leave the Normandy shortly before Horizon so that wouldn't change.Erixxxx wrote...
The problem is that both of those characters are on their own personal missions during the time of ME3.
Jack herself had much more of a better reason to stay off the Normandy with her students but they could've had someone around to take over for her in teaching the students, which at that point to me is probably more along the lines of military tactics and combat training and experience.
Jacob's reason for staying off the Normandy also felt a bit weak to me once you run into him since the Cerberus scientists and his new girlfriend would be safe working for Admiral Hackett on the Crucible.

That's no problem whatsoever.
In fact, it can easily be solved with a throwaway line right up front as to why they're joining Shepard on whatever missions are in the DLC.

Agreed, it is rather easy to palce in missions. I guess that is a testament as to how little content those two, along with the rest of the exclusive ME 2 squad, recieved in ME 3
@contown:
It is not about romance content, its about general content, like LoTSB. OF course thsoe who li those characters would like romance content in the DLCs , they would mainly add content with thsoe characters. This would provide mroe content for the character, mroe chance to develop a character, and to do these characters justice.

Please, stop insisting on making Mass Effect a dating simulator... You can find plenty in Japan. There's much more to the series than the love interests.
I can only speak for myself: I just want more of those characters becuase they are among the strongest the BioWare has created.
Plus, together, they have the kind of great chemistry that would be fun to listen to for a handful of missions.
I wouldn't balk at the option to add more romance for them, either, but there's more to Jack and Miranda than just that.

Did you read the post? I want a DLC with them as key players. It would not be a LI DLC just one with that in it for people who did romance them.

So if Jack is romanced, she has no impact on Shepard? Right. In general, no - I agree, she wouldn't, but for specific reasons depending on the player, yes she does - as do other ME2 characters for different players.

But really, it doesn't have to be anything more than Shepard working alongside capable people that he/she trusts. Jack and Miranda fit those molds.

Jack getting a complete character model redesign makes me think there might be something on the cards for her down the line, they could have simply left her as is in her loyalty outfit for her part in ME3 but they went to the trouble of completely redesigning her...
Art book in the CE talks about Jack's change in looks and why it happened. But story wise it was due to her becoming a teacher at Grissom and her look is a compromise of not having to wear full Alliance gear.
They changed her look before all that, so I believe she was going to have more than what we got, but you know - popular things must always come first.
I would love a mini story arc between her and Miranda, the banter that those two could have - especially concerning events that has unfolded (Jack becoming a teacher, Miranda leaving Cerberus). Could have some particular funny moments, if either are romanced - I can see the two making even more fun of each other and, well... Shepard.
Jack: "Shepard's still going after that cheerleader ass of yours?"
The art book I mentioned is the part "before all that" says they just wanted to update Jack just to update Jack. No reason behind it. But when they put Jack at Grissom, they put the story behind the change.

Did you miss the words "doesn't HAVE to have?" My Shepard pretty much told her to STFU and sit in her little corner. She doesn't have to have any impact on Shep unless the player has it be so. (Similar to Thane, Samara and Grunt). You're not forced to interact with her outside her recruitment mission and she does nothing for Shepard personally or even the mission other than be another combat specialist. (that's something she does regardless of how Shep treats her)
I didn't say it was true for all Sheps.
And yes ME2 characters do vary in importance from Shep to Shep. I'd like it if I got more content with Zaeed and Kasumi.
