So, I bought Origins on Sunday having played only the OC in 2009, and I'm replaying the campaign, dlc and expansion.   I've been playing for about 30 hours now, done Redcliffe, Mage Tower and the Urn, and suddenly yesterday the game started crashing.  First it happened every 4 hours or so, now it's every 20 minutes or less!
For the first 20 hours or so, there were no crashes at all.

Obviously I check all the usual stuff like CPU/GPU temps, latest drivers etc..., and I looked on the forum.   There seems to be 1 major solution which is to only run the game on 1 core.  (I'm running an i5 2500k, which I believe has 4 cores and 4 virtual ones (?))

However, to be honest, I don't want lag and I quite enjoy running the game on max settings, because that was the main reason I bought the PC version when I already have it on XBOX.  So will switching the game to 1 core give me lag, or should I be fine?

Thank you.  Also, does anyone know why crashes get more and more frequent? Is it to do with save files perhaps?
