I don't think I've ever been as captured by a game series as by ME.
I really enjoyed the first two installments and as I was waiting for the third to download I was excited but also really scared for where the journey woudl take me. I've spent countless hours playing SP and MP, listening to the soundtrack in my car or while working, reading the forums or speaking to friends about it while not being able to play.
If I could choose as a player I would have preferred not have a massive deus ex machina twist right at the end. But we've discussd that enough. I don't know what happend during the creative process and in the final stages of the project before release and I will probably never know.
But hats off to Bioware for trying to listen and putting in a lot of effort at their own expense to try and make this better within the constraints of time, resources and other things. (I wonder how much it cost to do this and on what levels in the organization they had to go and ask for money. I can just imagine the sort of debates they had in the team and I got all emotional when I saw their message at the end, more so since I know about software development, the conflicts in teams, and the frustration of being sanwidched between the realities of business and the ire of consumers.)
Thank you to the Bioware development team for this encore. It was, I believe, as good as you can manage at the moment. I remain your loyal customer, gratefull for this series that has certainly brought me more good than bad. I would understand if you now want to leave the stage to get on with normal life again. (I was close to tears a number of times as I played the EC, unlocking the different options. I realized again just how good the game was and what an emotional impact it made on me.)
I think I was right in my initial concern around the ending of this fantastic series. It has been a very emotional journey for all of us. I am certainly better for it and so I hope are we all.
There are enough threads with heated debate and some really negative comments and a lot of positive ones as well. My wish is not to start further debate here, but to create a thread where people can express their appreciation but also share their feelings and experiences around this epic series provided it is done in a positive and constructive light.
My final post on the Mass Effect series and the ending saga (Appreciation)

I have very same sentiment, even before the release of extended cut (yes, I hated the old version, but I understand the labors and works compiled behind scenes).
I absolutely LOVE the extended cut. Thank you so much, Bioware, for taking us onto this wonderful, wonderful journey.
