I get the absolute feeling here that this is Casey Hudson talking, if we dont like the endings we are provided with and we heriocally say no we are rewarded with "SO BE IT!" Then everyone dies.

Essentially a giant middle finger to the fans, ME3 has caused me to lose so much respect for bioware and its head team its unreal, well played Hudson.

Like I said in another thread, if this was purely from picking "No, I reject" I would call it grasping at conspiracy straws.

It's the fact he says this if you shoot him. Shooting Star Brat was a popular image and reaction towards hating the endings. This is their response if you do so.

Oh, I expect a lock on this one. Sorry. Many threads about the giant F U to the fans. Many mainstream publications calling it an F U. How BioWare does not see it as an F U is beyond me.

What else can you expect? The full fleets of the Galaxy were being decimated in the full frontal assault on Earth that wasn't even comprised of all reapers as they were still dispersed on Thessia, Paladin, Tuchunka and elsewhere. The Catalyst/Crucible was the one chance Shepard had to end the cycles with his/her cycle. Refusal to use it just leaves the Galaxy doomed to repeat failure, for the Reapers "vastly outnumber" Galactic forces in strength and patience. Fortunately Liara created the time capsules to warn future cycles in time to prepare and likely construct the Crucible themselves.

This was in no way a middle finger, people were clamoring for an ending like this when the original endings hit, and they got it.

Oh, and it also proves they don't respect us as fans. Therefore, I don't respect them as developers. The synthesis of BioWare/EA is complete. They are truly one in the same entity. Or they are fully indoctrinated.

Right back at cha, BioEA.

This is exactly what MANY fans demanded for in this past 3 months. All of a sudden it's an F U when it's in the game.

Some people just want to hate Bioware it seems.

Without a doubt it was, Its telling us then if we don't like what we are offered as an ending to this game then so be it, its not refusing to save the galaxy its about refusing what the Catalyst has told us, and for that we all die.

How is it a F U to the fans if the next cycle beats the Reapers?

Actually I was demanding new endings that made sense, and what we recieved was NOT a new ending, it was "Oh didnt like our endings? too bad now you'rde dead"

We have a right to hate bioware when its pretty obvious that they hate our reaction to the endings.

Many more were asking for a conventional victory with the refuse ending, thats how.

Damn, a few people ask for something stupid, so we all asked for something stupid?

THIS. A conventional victory is not possible, this is stamped into you multiple times during ME3.

Because the galaxy is destroyed, it doesnt matter if they are beaten, everything we know and tried to save ended up getting completely destroyed

It doesn't matter if Shepard is dead, or everyone else in the current cycle. You refuse to use the Crucible, and the next cycle beats the Reapers conventionally, thanks to all the work Shepard and co did in this cycle.

The most artistic element in ME3 EC is exactly this "So Be It"

For those who are not happy or shot the Catalyst out of anger: They will see it as a FU

For those who shot it just for fun would see it as humor.

For others, it could means victory without compromise, a true victory, etc.

Bravo. ^_^

Actually  it happens when you verbally choose refusal also.

If Bioware doesn't realise they are insulting the fans, then they aren't.

Of course it matters because there is no option to refuse and the galaxy to be saved without bowing down to Mr Star Child which there SHOULD without a doubt have been, at the end of the day you cant polish a turd and the endings we recieved were giant steaming turds

I think it triggering if you shoot the damn hologram is a big problem on this.

As an consequence of stated rejection with cutscenes & pics it would probably have gone over... somewhat better.

I think what has upset people over it is not only is it a guaranteed lose, but also that during the after scene with Liara's time capsule and then the stargazer, it is heavily implied that the next cycle actually did use the crucible. (I also believe this was confirmed on Twitter, though I do not have a link.)

This is so upsetting because it feels like the player is being told "reject if you want, but you'll lose then every time." Its as if the players are being chastised for sticking with the script. At least this is how I've interpreted the outcry over the rejection ending.

Technically the next cycle doesn't fight a war so there couldn't have been a conventional victory, they must have stopped the Reapers before they came through the Citadel and switched off the relays for there not to be a war.

Well, in all fairness, it's been said by Hackett at the end of the game that you don't have enough firepower to take down the Reapers without the Crucible. So if you refuse to use it, it makes sense that everyone dies. The consequence for shooting the Catalyst is actually pretty cute... and logical. If someone shot me after I gave them options for a solution, I'd be pretty pissed and storm away with a "SO BE IT!" too.
