This post is my personal take on the ending and does not reflect Bioware's intentions.

Mass Effect 3 was a great story, its just not the story you thought it was. The story followed the internal battle of Shepard and him breaking as a character. It all led up to an appropriate climax of a subconscious battle with the
reapers where victory is achieved by sticking with your morals that you have developed throughout 100 hours of gameplay instead of succumbing to flawed logic that is promised to solve your problem.

Shepard overcoming indoctrination is a complete story, we don't need to see the finished fight. We already know  that if we beat indoctrination that Shepard will die (Harbinger is standing over him aiming a laser blast that will finish the poor guy off, we don't need to see that happen) However, his efforts to discover what the catalyst is and Liara documenting it will have set up the next species to overcome the reaper threat.

Bottom line: Even beating indoctrination leads to Shepard's death, but we kept hold of who we were as a hero. Shepard never gave up hope despite inevitable defeat, and that is a fitting conclusion to the themes covered in a superb sci-fi trilogy.

I think you are wrong, but I respect your ending.

My FemShep is alive, all Reapers are dead & Traynor and all my friends
are coming to get me out of the rubble. :)

fair enough ;)... but I think that was Bioware's point, They left it this open for people to take what they wanted from the ending.
