Some of the synthesis/control people always say the major problem with the Destroy ending is the "Genocide" of the GETH and EDI.

The Merriam-Webster Definition of Genocide is "the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group"

Shepard is not trying to "Kill" the geth and edi. I have the word Kill bolded because how can you kill a robot or AI Bot. The word should be Shutdown.

The Crucible is indiscriminate and that's not shepard's fault if The Only Goal of the Entire series (DESTROY THE REAPERS) is hindered by the Faulty targeting system of the Crucible.

You destroy all synthetic life. You knowingly choose to do this.
I still pick destroy every time, but it is the purposeful destruction of the entire geth population. Genocide.

Semantics. The geth are a sentient machine race. Even though Destroy is my go-to ending, knowingly destroying them is a terrible war crime and equivalent to genocide.

The Geth engineers working on the Crucible should have seen, by its design, that it may wipe out synthetic life.
Did they warn anybody? Not that I know.

Come on people!!! Shepard killed a whole Batarian solar system simply to "delay" the reapers... I don't think that he would mind sacrificing AI to destroy them! The fact that he takes time to even think about the options proposed to him by the catalyst was, before the EC, all I needed in order to beleive in the IT. It's clear that Shepard developped, over time, a blind hate for them and I'm pretty sure that he would normal stop at nothing to see them burn!

You take that question too literally. Of course they don't have a soul. Is there any proof we have one?

No. THe question is "Do we deserve to live as much as you?"

Atleast, that's how I feel.

And whether you like Destroy or not, whether you choose Destroy or not, it's still Genocide.

+1

Quarians would most likely pay for the Shepard defense fund.

"Genocide" has become the new favorite word on these forums, apparently.

Really, because my Shepard was questioning the Quarian's desire to destroy the Geth from the begining of ME1.

Seeing as though they are self-aware beings it is genocide.

i accept the choice i made, but only choice where you don't commit genocide is control, synthesis does so , in a way you destroy organics and syntheics, the races including geth in order to give birth to a new species, or so i think

but as i was saying it sucks but it is a sacrifice to save the many and end the reaper threat. can't justify genocide though

Frankly, I was alright with the 'destroy' ending for a couple reasons.

One being I see no reason why EDI can't be 'rebuilt'. She was once before.

The other being she was fully willing to die for the team/mission. She was willing to give her 'life' to end the Reapers; I felt like she'd have been accepting of my decision.

As for the Geth? Meh. sad? yeah, okay, it was. But there will be losses in war.

I didn't choose Destroy because I didn't think destroying the geth was worth it. I chose control. I assume in Destroy Shepard is supposed to be alive, I didn't think one person's life outweighed the lives of a whole race. As to whether the Geth are really alive or not I say they are because after the Rannoch mission they have individual conciousness and personalities.

They are war casualties. Nothing wrong with that.

EDIT: ...and I'm saying that with the premise that I absolutely LOVE the Geth as a race.

Die in combat is very different from being knowningly killed by your own allies. I don't know about the Geth or EDI but while I would be ready to die in combat, I wouldn't be ready to be killed by my own side.
