I'd still argue that goal of the entire series is not to 'kill the Reapers,' but instead to 'save the galaxy.' I doubt Shepard would have been terribly vexed if the Reapers changed their minds and just decided to leave.

BWAHAHA, THE ULITMATE PARAGON/RENEGADE CHECK.

No, it's really not. In fact, I see more clearly and open-mindedly then you, apperantly. But neither of us will conveince the other, and I have no issues with the destory ending whatsoever. If you don't like green or blue, don't use them. But do not try to tell me why I can't. ^.^

you can have an open-mind and still be oblivious you know...maybe you didn't.
Also, quote back to me where I said why you can't, I just stated my opinion as to why they're bad, have a bit of a persecution complex, do we?

I'm sorry?

No, not really. I'm not going to take a thread seriously that a) has already had its subject matter done to death, and B) presents their case as "THE GETH CANT DIE LAWL"

Please learn what oblivious means.

Nope, not at all. But you're clearly trying to start an arguement. Also, your defensiveness amuses me.

Ignorance is an ugly trait.

My case is not 'THE GETH CAN'T DIE LAWL'. Nor is anyone else's in this thread.

If you dislike it so much...why are you participating in it?

And yet AGAIN, this is war. In war, there will be casualties. Every single sentiant being that takes part in this war is willing to die for it and accepts the fact that they might.

Did they? Like... Joining the reapers to continue their existence because they didn't want to be destroyed?

And I consider it more important to save lives in a war than to kill your enemy, if the war will be stopped either way. You have the option to save the synthetics. Don't they deserve to be saved?

My Shepard saw them as the final collateral damage in the war. Yes, there were other options ... and they weren't to be trusted because they still involved the reapers.

Destroy is to only way to get rid of them.

Sad to see the Geth go, but it had to be done.

Man, you sure are right. Ignorance is ugly. Did you care to read the OP? Because I did. And I mocked it.

There is such a thing as entertainment value, y'know. Watching you self-righteously respond to my every bait provides it quite well.

in the moment assuming you can control is pretty damn arrogant, and well again as shepard you have wiped out 305k batarians, over 1 million geth already. and this coming from someone that wants to enslave sentien machines

How many times does it need to be explained to people that genocide does not simply mean "killing lots of people"?

I never said they didn't. I've chosen all three endings and all three have merit. However, the simple fact is if, say,  2000 have to die to save 2,000,000, then I am willing to allow that to happen in my game.

Does a human have a soul??

off topic, inappropriate, and frankly, stupid.

I apologize if the question is off-topic, but I have noticed a tendency among many of those who say Geth don´t have soul, that they actually believe in the concept of a soul but not that A.I. can have one, simply because, as they put it, "they are machines".
But technically humans can be perceived as machines too, so what makes a human being capable of having a soul but not a sentient creature such as the Geth??

....a human can not be percieved as a machine. Lord above, talk about grasping at straws.

The answer to your question is a religous debate in the making, therefore, I'm not touching it.

Once again, I do not even belive they mean 'soul' in the literal sense.

And why can´t we?? Some scientists describe organic creatures as basically automata machines. I´m not saying that they are right only that the perception CAN be applied to living organic creatures too.

Anyway, I´m sorry that I brought us off-topic and I apologize.

True, and I hate myself everytime I do this mission. Probelm is, that killing the batarians was a sacrifice to delay the war. Here, you have the option to stop the reapers AND save everyone. You will just have to let your enemies live. Just me maybe, but I consider the trade fair. More so if you'll use the reapers

Genocide is defined as "the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group

make it easy for you

you can even see the definitions:)

Come on people!!! Shepard killed a whole Batarian solar system simply to "delay" the reapers... I don't think that he would mind sacrificing AI to destroy them! The fact that he takes time to even think about the options proposed to him by the catalyst was, before the EC, all I needed in order to beleive in the IT. It's clear that Shepard developped, over time, a blind hate for them and I'm pretty sure that he would normal stop at nothing to see them burn!

Destroying the Bahak system was do or die, there was absolutely no other option.

Picking Destroy or letting the Quarians do the dirty work is genocide imposed on the Geth. You're knowingly killing them when there are other options on the table. There's no getting around this, it's a fact

take case A: a person is open-minded, when presented with a situation that is unfamiliar with them, they accept what happens. However, during acceptance, they also do not see the longer term ramifications of the situation.

I told you already, open-mind and oblivious are not mutually exclusive, also telling me to go 'learn what oblivious means' just makes your argument look weaker.

You're offering no refusal of my opinion about destroy, say we'll never agree, then rise to my dismissive comment - takes two to tango. :P

anyhoo; my argument still stands:

geth/edi were killed by authorial fiat in an attempt to make the other 2 choices somehow palatable.

you claim theres nothing wrong with other two, but never provide any specific examples. I based my statement on looking at the writing of the game.

Perhaps you do. You have one choice that definitely stops the Reaper threat and two that may or may not but are certainly a very big risk, and carry other ethical implications that are possibly worse.

Just because their synthetics doesn't mean they dont have a soul, nobody knows what is a soul, there are many definitions for it but nobody knows exactly what it is. In my opinion its the ability to genuinely express emotion for the correct circumstances. Geth do not experience emotion as we do but legion has proven that they can in their own way. So yes the Geth do have souls, they are not inferior to organics, they are the same.

uyeah whereas for me i just get the feeling control is wrong in it's own way, the risk is not worth it. i hate doing it but in my mind destroy ends the threat where with control there is still the threat. to each his own though

Like killing quite a few people, to start with.  And they did not join the reapers do to not wanting to be destroyed. Please go check your facts before making a case.

Sacrifice the few for the many. That is how I view it too, and as such have no problem in choosing destroy.

They did nothing that organics won't do if they were in their positions. Threatend. And as Legion states in ME3: "They were, afraid". They heretics joined the reapers because they didn't want to get destroyed in ME3. before that the geth got messed up by the reapers.
