I'd really like to see sequels and/or an MMO but the ME3 ending sort of makes that really, really hard. I guess since the ME universe draws heavily on biblical references they could have a second coming of Shepard. 10,000 years into the universe's future the galaxy once again needs a hero and somehow Shepard manages to reform themselves into a physical form after the control/synthesis endings and just gets bought back to life through science if you picked the destroy ending (you're body was cryogenically frozen or something). That far into the future they could still make reference to the ending you chose in ME3 but at the same time have a universe that doesn't invalidate any of the endings or other choices you made in the games.

Yeah they could clone him or something

I would like to be able to save import into the next Mass Effect game. It'll be cool to see how characters from the original trilogy are coping, maybe Commander Shepard could even make a cameo if he/she survived ME3 (I want to see blue children)!

Or, if BioWare decided to continue Shepards story (I'd like to see it, though it is probably unlikely), with some decent writing, I suppose they could find an explanation as to how he/she survived.

Some kind of sequel would be nice , even if they had to choose a canon ending :)

How about Mass Effect land before plot holes?
Problem is what sort of enamy would be as devastating as the reapars

It seems like you don't go to that many offical sites especially when there is always a small uproar going on.

even if another ME game is made, I won't be preordering it, only getting it out of the preowned bin

I highly doubt this especially when you said preowned bin.

Will avoid further Pre-Orders as well.Sorry to say but will only buy after multiple video reviews+talk/analysis.

Thats a waste of time especially when you want to play a game not find out everything without playing it.

Fixed

I see you won't be buying any games then until IGN has died.

If you really don't want any "plot holes"  then you better not look back at the beginning.  Btw there could be a lot of things worse then the Reapers since ME has only been in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Part of me is happy to have ME stay as a sequel, as I felt, with the EC, that it had come full circle and all my crew had a satisfying ending (particularly my high EMS Destroy Ending Shepard), so in the vein I didn't really feel that it needs to have a sequel. An epilogue DLC maybe, but not a sequel.

However, I can't honestly envisage playing an ME game as anyone other than my Shep, so I'd be up for a sequel.

Failing that, I want a Mass Effect Space Simulator a la TIE Fighter.

I really don't want a sequel. No spin-offs or what have you. It's hard to envision ME universe without Shepard, no matter how great the universe is.

I'm shocked by how many people want a sequel. A sequel...how exactly? The endings diverged wildly. It would be nearly impossible to create a game that contains a storyline to properly follow up each ending. Maybe two of the endings could be represented at once in an ambiguous way, but the third or fourth are simply incompatible. The solution is to create a canon 'Commander Shepard' and set of choices that existed in the universe of the sequel. That would be disgusting. It would feel like a betrayal of the time I had playing the original Mass Effect and the choices I made.

I'd like to see a prequel or prequel series. There is just so much ground to cover, the series could really go anywhere. Maybe there was some hidden story behind the discovery of the Prothean archive we don't know about. There could be a game about the First Contact War, or a totally new situation that happened some time before ME1. We could play as different characters in different situations running parallel to the main games. Personally, I think it would be interesting if a new Mass Effect game allowed players to control an uplifted human in the last cycle. Someone who was taken by the Protheans as an experiment. It would give us a greater understanding of exactly what Javik was speaking about. The possibilities are endless...

Why would you want a sequel? Shepard's story is over. There's nothing left to fight.

Yet the story is based on Shepard, but the its based around the universe.  Btw ME has ben confined to the Milky Way, which has a lot of story to expand on into a long lasting series without Shepard.

Same here I lean heavily towards a Prequel, but I also would not mind a Sequel. I think people are worn out by SWOTOR which was meant to be a 'prequel' to KOTOR, I for one wanted to see a KOTOR III but I understand...the licensing and all, still Prequel's turned me off in relation to where it should have been a Sequel and can understand how it 'might' be similar with others. Still, for reasons you mentioned, I voted for Prequel, but I don't mind a Sequel. Either will do.

I know that if Jennifer Hale's voice work is in it as a Main Side Companion (who plays an active role like Bastila Shan! ) OR as a new Main Character I'll play hands down. She just really made the experience of playing as Shepard, Shepard. So I'd love to see her back in the universe with a major role.

I would love to see a mass effect game trilogy where instead of a 3 part stories its 3 independant games in different genres that all extend past one of the 3 endings.  FPS, RTS, ect.  Instead of picking one ending to be the real one, just do all 3 in 3 different games.

It would be totally insane if they were able to do a game in the stargazer time that lets you scan in an me3 save or pick one of the 3 destinies when you start.  Though now more than before they're totally incompatable.  In blue you have reapers policing society, in green everyone is immortal and hyper intelligent and glowing, in red the reapers are dead.  Just the state of the reapers makes them incompatable but also the immortality thing is another.

That would make a poor setting for a full game, IMO.

Besides the fact that the player would know from the start that it is going to end with the Council intervening before the Turians can drop the hammer, the First Contact War was nothing more than a glorified border skirmish. Neither side lost more than 2,000 people. It is only only involves Turians and Humans, so you'd be setting the game in a much smaller section of the galaxy than the setting of any of the previous Mass Effect games.

That isn't to say that prequel settings can't be explored at all. I just think they make a better setting for DLC or expansions than they do a full game. For a full game, it is better to move the timeline forward and do a proper sequel.

There is no open possibilities of sequels with the actual endings... Maybe the refusal one could lead to something cool.

Sure there is.

With the EC the galaxy no longer enters a dark age. The relays are merely damaged rather than destroyed, and in every version of the ending you are told that the galaxy rebuilds.

If there is a sequel at all the Reject ending is going to end up a non-canon ending, much like the ending of Mass Effect 2 where Shepard and his entire team dies.

^ this.

i think it would be interesting if they took a direction similar to halo (after doing the prequel 'reach' and 'anniversary', they started a new trilogy starting with halo 4). i think maybe another trilogy with a NEW protagonist could be interesting
