Sequel(s) ftw. A sequel with control/ synthesis could be difficult, but maybe this time you get to play a new specter of another race, with the normandy crew as backup. I'm not sure whether I like the idea of playing Garrus. He's his own person. I think the real value would be in playing alongside him. There also could be solo missions with shephard wherever he is, and normandy crew missions as they try to find each other. For me the great thing about a sequel would be continuing the story of the characters we know.
Maybe the reaper spawn are still active on the homeworlds, and controlled by a remnant of cerberus from Omega. And there's the whole dark matter issue that was never picked up on from ME2.

Seriously though, if it is a prequel I hope it's about a story and characters we've never heard of...otherwise we'd already know how things play out.

Sequel with a new protagonist, with Shepard (if he/she survived) and the crew from ME 1-3 in cameo's only.
So a new protagonist with his/her own crew and companions.

And I want a Turian protagonist to be completely honest, that would be awesome.

I'd like to see a prequel or prequel series. There is just so much ground to cover, the series could really go anywhere. Maybe there was some hidden story behind the discovery of the Prothean archive we don't know about. There could be a game about the First Contact War, or a totally new situation that happened some time before ME1. We could play as different characters in different situations running parallel to the main games. Personally, I think it would be interesting if a new Mass Effect game allowed players to control an uplifted human in the last cycle. Someone who was taken by the Protheans as an experiment. It would give us a greater understanding of exactly what Javik was speaking about. The possibilities are endless...

Agreed. A sequel would be terrible and would ruin the ME brand even more.

I just want Bioware to move on and to take a long break from ME for the foreseeable future.

If they did anything at all a prequel should be it though. A stand alone story with only a few trilogy cameos and no gawd awful fan service for once (like previous squadmates returning or something equally stupid)

With the EC the galaxy no longer enters a dark age. The relays are merely damaged rather than destroyed, and in every version of the ending you are told that the galaxy rebuilds.

If there is a sequel at all the Reject ending is going to end up a non-canon ending, much like the ending of Mass Effect 2 where Shepard and his entire team dies.

Who's gonna be the bad guy after the Reapers? Some pirate group? How underwhelming.

At least with a prequel a weaker antagonist makes sense but even then I'm not major fan of any new games.

That could work in a ME Origins game with the Human and Turian character origin stories begining with the First Contact War.

i actually wouldnt mind a prequel... as long as we didnt know what would happen at the end, or they made it such a way (unlike first contact war)

His name was Tully.How in God's name can one take seriously anyone named Tully or Switch..Anyway...That was not a personal attack just a personal random thought.Anyway again.The poll in my opinion(2cents) is very decent.Seems the majority(me/us) desires a decent sequel(NEW TRILOGY!Damnit Doctors...).Everything else is just MODERAMATADOR rhetoric.We love Tully.

if its not official it should be... look how many ppl have voted. on top of that, bioware has stated several times when asked 'where does mass effect go next?', that it is up to THE FANS and what they want... this poll is more for them than for us to use as a reference

For spin offs, maybe could explore the younger days of hackett and or other sr. Officers.. New enemy, new story

For sequels.. Story about starghazer's kid? Hahah..
