To be fair I don't see how they could *not* have Thane in this in some form. If all the other ME2 romances are getting "rekindled" except Thane, especially after the godawful treatment of his romance in vanilla ME3, that's just - beyond harsh.
I guess we'll have to wait and see...
This one speaks the truth.
I shall keep my fingers crossed. It's the "some form" part that is...concerning.

If Thane/Jacob fans get nada AGAIN or bioware doesn't even TRY to fix the lousy existing content so help me I...*sigh* Guys I'm the biggest Garrus fangirl ever but I simply can't be happy about this until I know the others will get what they deserve at last and not another slap in the face for picking the "wrong"LI . I hope I'm jumping to conclusions though and they've actually tried to win back the love and trust of the femshep players who felt thier choices didn't matter.
Seriously bioware stop making me bipolar, my feelings can't take it anymore.
oh and um *knocks something else over* samara better get some love too, players were promised content for trying to start something with her. So there!

A Thane-romancing FemShep's Citadel apartment decor consists of boxes of tissues, the greatest hits of Celine Dion on holo-tape, and a green vibrator.
I'll take my apartment without tissues and Celine Dion, please.

THIS THIS THIS. I feel so badly for players who had their hearts set on Thane, and how am I supposed to want to start my Thane-mancing Shepard when I know what awaits her? One "love" scene and then forever silence, forever alone.
I don't think it's likely, but if they give Vega some DLC romance content it wouldn't fix the problem by a long shot but at least a Shepard without options (having killed Kaidan) would be left with something besides lesbian #1, #2, and #3.
EDIT - @giftfish - You'll take your bowl of sadness and you'll enjoy it, dammit!

Although it looks possible that not everybody is going to come away with what they want from this one, I think the focus on the characters is exactly what's needed, and I really think initiatives like this one helped get us here.
I'm hoping for the best.

So the stupid people will get their Date Sim dlc but normal people won't get their ending dlc. Okaaay.
Yeah, because the people still wailing about ending DLC a year later are more "normal" than people wanting more character content.

So you want to date and romance with virtual characters and you are willing to pay for it. LOL

DLC can and does replace chunks of the core game. Examples: fixing the banter bug in engineering required replacing that whole section of the ship, and the extended cut completely replaces the final level on the Citadel (and Leviathan then replaces the entire conversation with the brat with its own version). When you experience this content with the respective DLC, all the applicable resources are read from the new versions (the disc versions are simply ignored).giftfish wrote...
@Chrono -- I'm guessing (and this is just a guess) that that scene is a part of the same game files as the coup itself. My guess is that the DLC would come into play after that.
So if they offload this scene to the DLC, they can replace it with anything they choose. Because of their packaging system, they may have to include more content or less content (the banter bug, for instance, required them to redistribute all the audio for the banter lines along with the new dialogue and level resources—all to fix a problem caused by one single variable that was used incorrectly in an entirely different part of the game), but it's absolutely possible to target specific scenes and portions of a level.
They won't allow Thane to live (I don't believe it was ever something they were seriously considering), but they could grant much greater closure than the scene currently affords. We just won't know until it's released, and although it is possible he'll get nothing, I think it's more likely they looked for a way to do something.

Good job, Gitfish. I'm ... proud of you.
Thanks much, this but we have no idea what role we played (if any)!
Though, I'd certainly like to think that my, coldwetn0se, and sarahannmann's work wasn't for nothing, lol.
Also, people, please don't feed the trolls.
Post, discuss, and have fun, by all means.
@devSin -- You might very well be correct, but I don't want to dash the hopes of Thane fans, yet. Many folks from the survey who both did and did not romance him were at least hoping for him to live through the end of the game. Let's allow them to keep their fingers crossed for now. Appreciate your breakdown of some of the file mechanics, though.
