Put yourself in Shepard's position. You've just been told by the Catalyst that you have three choices, and he's described each for you.

As a player, we know what we have to do because we see Anderson shooting the pipe for Destroy, and TIM grabbing the electric handles for Control. But how does Shepard know it? Did Shepard have those visions? If he did, where did the visions come from? Why doesn't he ask 'what the hell was that I just saw?!'

Assuming Shepard did have these visions, which would mean the Catalyst can toy with his mind, and would explain why he's using the child's body. Would you do what the visions suggest? Does it seem like the way to control the most advanced device in the galaxy is to either shoot a pipe, grab electrified handles, or jump into a plasma beam?

Or would you shoot the twerp for ****ing with you?
