There HAS to be a canon ending.

Either a future story would have to take place very far into the future to the point where the temporary solutions have ran out because some other perfect organic has came around and change everything once again or they do something crazy like bringing in parallel universes/time-travel. I don't think I'd like to play a game that far into the future though, it would probably take a full reboot of the universe and that could mean all sorts of crazy things.
Or they could just pull a KOTOR 2 and start canonising things but I really doubt they'd go that route given how much emphasis on choice the series has had so far (and they didn't HAVE to give a choice at the end and could have avoided this whole conundrum so apparently that's an important theme they want to stick with).
If one thinks too hard about this it kind of makes you want to believe that the "ending" hasn't happened at all because the universe cannot carry on in 4 different states.

It's possible that both Control and Synthesis are only temporary solutions, Refusal is not a solution at all, and we assume Destroy wiped all the Reapers out but there's all that Leviathan business out there that implies a rogue Reaper (whether that is pre or post-ending, we can't be absolutely sure yet).
It's pre-ending. They've already said there will be no DLC set after the game.

like all things in life sacrifices will be made and the canon will be made whether it be when they do the film or when they release more games, we all know deep down destroy is the only way to continue the franchise. It's the only logical way to continue the franchise.

Trilogy.
Definition.
Arc of three intertwined stories reaching a penultimate conclusion.
Simple.
If they continue after this they will suffer Story Rot and it will simply be terrible.
They dont have to follow up the story, they would just keep the universe going.
Well unless Bioware want 4 seperate universes to contend with to keep fans happy, they wont continue.
Then i suggest these *fans* get a grip on reality, accept the fact they will have to make canon and logically it will be destroy then we can all move on and start to talk about what the next trilogy will involve.

It does beg the question as to why they would offer a choice at all.
But that's like saying why offer a choice in kotor games and jade empire when the lightside was the canon anyway and the female was the exile not a male. It's a video game they offer choice because it gives good gameplay. Mass effect to m,e was always going to be that bioware had a story and a path set out and we the player literally just played the journey on how to get there. sacrifice will be made canon will be made and i think it's the best decision if they do as they can continue the franchise into another trilogy that's set like 500 years later or something.

If not, then it would have to be control, say Shep its the wrong idea while playing galactic peacekeeper or some race i.e. the Batarians get their grubby hands on the crucible design and try to detroy the Reapers or something.
Also isn't the Lev of dis (if the leaks are true) a dead or disabled Reaper in Batarian space? makes me think if its true that it would take place prior to the ending/s

Destroy would be my pick as canon, who's to say that the beam managed to wipe out all the Reapers? and the remaining just went into hiding somewhere...like the collectors.

No they should pick destroy, let the reapers die otherwise they are just raking a fire. they have had their trilogy with the reapers time to move on and expand into the unknown of the current galaxy.

Control: Shepard becomes the new big bad, and you have to destroy the Reapers again.. Yay?
Destroy: Leaves the series open, and there can be a new, totally different big bad. Hopefully one that isn't ridiculously powerful, and can't affect the Galaxy in the way the Reapers did.
Also it might involve Synthetics trying to kill Organics. It would be hilarious if the latter lead to choosing whether to re-create the Reapers or some crap.

yes it is a pity the killed the game off. they might do a game set after the ednign but with sheppard in it. but then we would need one set ending.

Synthesis is pretty impossible to write a story in. Control might work, but the presence of ControllerShepard would be difficult to write around - unless they decide to just have him as the villain, but that would be very annoying.

Do what Deus Ex did and make the cannon ending a blurred combination of the end choices, which will pretty much be valid because no one other than Shepard would have any clue what the hell was happening.
Nah. That's lame as hell.
And wouldn't work. People would notice their new glowing eyes/god-emperor/dead robot buddies.

a) Outright retcon (think DA2)
Or just invoke artistic integrity and win the argument.
