Okay, so after replaying the game and seeing all of the extended options, I come away with a serious "That doesn't make any sense!" face when I think about the Synthesis ending.  And its not because it involveved space magic or justin beiber telling me to come together all hippie style with synthetics, but rather, the whole point of the reapers, to safeguard the continuity of the universe is rendered meaningless. My interpretation for the purpose of the reapers is this: In all cycles, organics create synthetics to help make their life easier.  At the onset, these synthetics would be rather base, and would not pose much of a practical use.  So, the organics would either, a) improve them, making them more intelligent, and closer to sky-net, or B) the synthetics themselves would become self-aware, and make self improvements.  Over time, These synthetics would become far more advanced than their creators, and, over time, would begin to realize the faliability of organic life.  So, these synthetics, in order to stop the chaos of organic life, would exterminate prganics.  Now that their is no war, as all that remains is synthetics, who are linked hive-mind style, The sole purpose left would be expansion, as expansion leads to increased intelligence which leads to more expansion for more intelligence, ad infinium. These synthetics would quickly use all of the resources of the galaxy, rendering all planetary ecosystems void of anything necessary for...life, or other things.  Gradually, the synthetics would expand beyond the resources this galaxy has to offer, and would abandon it for another, leaving it a wasteland and, essentially, dead.

If you read all that.....:D

So that brings me to why Synthesis doesn't make sense.  If everyone was the same, everyone linked, then the barriers impeding progress would be completely removed.  A Universe with the knowledge of untold cycles, working completely harmoniously, with no barriers would destroy the galaxy as the sole purpose in life would be expansion, and increased knowledge.  There is little difference between a world with only synthetics and a world of shining-happy robot/people things. Both would eat alll of the available resources ,and expand beyond the current galactic borders.  Basically, they suck up all the resources then move on to other galaxies.

So, to me, Synthesis not only removes indiviual freedom of choice, it also endagers the galaxy, and the entire universe.  Though, it kind of would be cool to see two galaxies battling it out.

Am I crazy?
