So, what would you want to see in "Platinum Difficulty"?

I have heard a lot of cries for a platinum level difficulty, but given that if you bump up the difficulty like they have for the difference between bronze, silver and gold it would just mean baddies that had more health and did more damage, I was hoping that the community might have some better ideas on how to make platinum harder than gold. It could be big things, like random appearances of special baddies, for example, the local reaper ship assumes direct control over its troops one at a time for a round giving them a barier, armor, and a health bar, like Harbinger witb his collectors. It could also be small things, like friendly fire doing damage, or there being a finite ammount of ammo that didn't replenish between rounds.
What would make Platinum for you?

Barrier, armor, and health would be fun for a round but not with a finite amount of ammo.

If everything stayed relatively the same as gold but doubled the enemies and added more spawn points, I think that would make it sufficiently harder.

 A gameplay experience like Dark Souls. Punishing, unforgiving, glorious.

Higher credit reward wouldnt hurt either.

I would play that, AND enjoy the hell out of it, but it kind of breaks the idea of a platinum difficulty if it absolutely can't be beat.

Higher credit reward goes without saying, but what do you mean about an experience like dead souls? You mean no mashing X, just a prompt to use medigel when you go down by a normal baddie?

I'd find it double interesting if there was in fighting, like the geth forces don't like cerberus so while everyone is fighting you, they are also fighting each other.

Platinum difficulty - hostiles can spawn anywhere, even behind you and next to you. No pause between waves, only 8 ammo crate uses for the entire match, every spawn group will include at least 1 boss level hostile, all trooper level hostiles have shields/barriers, boss level characters can regenerate health and armor on top of shields/barriers.

hmmmmm......Platinum Level...
New Bosses (Resistant to Missile Launcher damage meaning they cant be killed instantly ^_^)
Cerberus Assault Aircraft
Geth Colossus
Reaper Harvester

Cerberus Engineer can now deploy Shield and Barrier Defenses
Geth Infiltrators now uses Javelin instead of GPS
Reaper Marauders can enhance Brutes, Banshees, and Ravagers.

All Trooper level enemies can run ^_^

each mission grants 30,000 credits w/o bonus

Of course this is how i would imagine it ^_^

More enemies (more of a mix of bosses and lower level enemies, just bosses isn't hard), enemies have more health, enemies are faster and more aggressive. Maybe reduce the amount of equipment you can use as well.

We can't increase the damage , it's allready overkill, or by a smal amount.
More powers from the enemis, specialy biotics or other meaning to force the player to move from cover.
Increase their life by a lot can be interesting in an tactical point, but make some map harder ( glacier ).
Damage reduction against aoe.

puting armored node who give shield / barrier to random unit, i like it, heavy hitter have to focus the node when the other cc and kill the smal fry

And yea,a big badass boss, flying <3 !

Banshees that have a 30% chance of teleporting right behind you from any distance.

Ravagers that see through walls, and alert all mauraders to go after one player

Husk that instantly jump and grab you when they get 7m within range

Geth hunters that don't drop cloak till shields go down

Up to 5 Turrets being spawned by geth primes

Cerb troopers that will fire 5 burst then dodge from cover to cover

Phantoms that will cloaks and fly in the air with their rocket shoes while sniping you the whole time.

Remove player health and shield gate. That would be interesting in platinum, there would be more vorcha though I'm guessing oh and vanguard...

Huge wave budget, aka LOTS of small enemies with around 3-4 (max at wave 10) boss mobs

Perhaps a time limit on each wave, so if 3 people go down, you wont have time to solo it all if they go down early

8 devices, 8 targets, hack twice as long, 4 pizza deliveries

2 consumable max

Power-ups scatter around the maps that gives shields, weapon bonus, power bonus etc

Extraction for LOTS of extra credits. The enemy has powered up 3 AA guns that will prevent the shuttle from being able to get your team out, you need to destroy them, or hack them (longer than devices, but shorter than a hack) could have a new boss mob guarding each one to make things interesting

The game itself cannot add more enemies than what we've got for gold. It can't handle it.

But to make the game harder than gold? More enemy health, damage, and speed. Also allowing more boss units at once. That's about all I think they could realistically do.

I would like to see instead of a platinum difficulty(comeon face it, 3% gold extraction rate, as if we need it) a new game mode, still 11 waves, but instead of doing various objectives. Revers the roles. you try to stop the enemy from completing objectives. Call the mode... Hold the line ;D

If they increase the amount of boss units, the game cant handle it xD just saying. atlasses and primes as it is, already get stuck to each other and the smaller enemies on gold from time to time.

I think realisticly the proper way for those masochists who want something harder than gold, improved spawner spot layout, improved pathing, improved swarm A.I. but maintain the hp and shield and damage amounts. but give the enemy more versitile weapons.

For example: 
-Geth pyros, give their flamers an choice to hurl a ball of flame for a longer distance than the flamer can reach.
-Geth rocket troopers, Airburst rockets.
-Geth troopers, Grenades.

-Marauders, give them an option to use omniblades for melee.
-Cannibals, let them eat your buddies who are downed making their timer go out faster and recovering the health of the cannibal.
-Ravagers, increase swarmer speed.

-Nemesis, give them the real raptor, not the gimbed 1 shot version.
-Centurion give them real tactical purpose, buff the damage of troopers and buff the speed of guardians if they are close by.
-Assault troopers. Behave nothing like soldiers, the grenades they have... they should not be afraid to use the grenades, the whole purpose of a grenade in warfare is to disperse and maim groups of enemies and they should be used when you can, the assault troopers with grenades in this game are like panicking house maids who are afraid of pulling the damn pin thinking they might break the thing in their hands like its made of porcelain.

It's not as much fun as you think. Enemies don't work well with other factions since they can't buff each other/flank for each other/etc. I've tried it, it's actually quite boring unless they do all the combinations right :/


And to make enemies harder they woudl need to add difficulties to enemy guns. So that each difficulty can choose specific gun settings.
E.g: Rocket Troopers shoot 2 rockets, 1 after the other (I'm not sure if this is how it currently is...), geth troopers use rifles like real pulse rifles, ravagers shoot 5 missiles, everything instant kills when it can (this is platinum, no holding back), and extraction... Well extraction shoudl be a mix of all bosses. I got thrown into a match once with this, and it was amazing. Was a few months ago though, never remember who the host was. It was crazy. It was just a normal gold XP/Credits though. We got owned on extraction.

You are correct :) also their Swarm A.I.s are different = game would need to run 2 A.I.s = double stress for that part. so if you get 3 of them, i could easily see the game eating 20% or 30% more resources. so unless your running a computer with atleast 4 cores and hyper threading and let the game chew more than 1,5 gigs of ram, and you have a graphics card made in the past 1-1½ years. your not playing that mode.
