I do not think that origins are necessary. The next game would not require them to be a fun experience. However, I think that there is a happy median. Maybe the creators could try making less origins. They could focus on quality and not quantity. Maybe bring the number down to three. OR the origin could start in the same place but characters treat you different.

I could get behind this. Heck, I'd be fine with a rogue/warrior/mage origin story, and then have lots of references to that origin/class going throughout the game.

I have no problem with a set race and class with three different origins. It does not have to be human. Playing a rogue saarebas, human or dwarf seeker or dalish rogue would be interesting

I want to make clear that I am not asking this question out of a desire to remove, or justify the removal of flavor to this franchise. I think the small details that build up the lore of the DA franchise are great. However, I ask this question more because, I don't think Origins should just be included in DA3 because they were removed from DA2.

Part of the problem with the near total panning DA2 has received from the fan base, is that developers might bring back imperfect systems as they were, and not try to improve upon them. Origins are a cool concept, but one that I never found to reach beyond the status of gimmick.

If the system could be improved, then I see no reason not to make them a central feature. I just feel that Origins, in order to be deemed a vital part of this series need to be more expansive then just a slightly personalized prologue level.

They are not necessary, no, but it would be nice to have some way of differentiating your characters from the get go. class-based origins would be interesting, like being a mercenary if you're a warrior, a thief as a rogue or an apostate as a mage.

Not necessary but would like them, quite bored of always playing as a human. I am one in real life last time I checked so let me play as something else in fictional fantasy worlds. Can be a Gelfling for all I care just not human all the time. They can be more well done in the story, provide Bioware with a chance to do branching plot better and resolve some of the issues relating to NPC dialogue repetition that is damaging replay value.
