I have the same issue. I wonder if its because they're using some odd port or something like that

I am also having that same problem. The game keeps saying that I'm not connected online. Obviously, since I'm posting here that's not true! Help!

Do any of you have firewalls? In particular, Windows' own.

Make sure you add an exception to your firewall is all I can say. Most (good) firewalls should prompt you for it. (If not, then something is wrong/you need a new firewall)

i switched off all my firewalls but i still have this issue :P

And I have no idea why this is happening. Your router settings maybe?

But if my firewall is crap why can I get on WOW with no problem and Team Fortress no problem? I think it is bioware that has the problem. I have added the ports to my firewall exception and nothing. WHY HAS BIOWARE NOT RESPONDED? THIS DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR THEIR UPCOMING MMO!!!!

I was finally able to register my game, but now I'm having this problem as well. I've added exceptions and turned off my firewall, but the game still thinks I'm not online. I'm hoping that after the game realizes I'm actually online I'll be able to get the DLC. This whole process is kind of frustrating.

If you are on Vista or Windows 7 (I'm on Windows 7 x64) here's the solution.

Run a command prompt as administrator (you may have to browse to CMD.exe in your \\Windows\\System32 directory and right click the file to run as Admin.)

Run this command to turn off ECN capability, whatever that is! I tried Dragon Age after running the command, no reboot required and it connected right up to the internet.

netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled

Worked for me.

I use windows xp, I tried almost all tips posted here ... I already upgrade. net framework ... I tried to start the "Dragon Age: Origins updater manually ... but it starts to load a bar, but in the middle to the end a msg comes ... time out, giving a 1053 error, saying there wasn´t possible to connect the server ... ! ... =/

Tried the command but no joy. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Thanks archimedes, that command worked like a charm. Maybe Bioware err I mean EA should give you a job handling their tech support. I somewhat resent the fact that it was another player and not a forum moderator that offered this solution.

Not that it helps us but here's what ECN is... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explicit_Congestion_Notification

Have tried the reinstall to no avail... An easy quick fix for those of us just interested in the DLC is to make it available out of game so we can download and then patch it in. No reason to not use the K.I.S.S. method when you make a game with DLCs... I have no real care in seeing snapshots of people in a single player game. So why make it so complicated? Allow us to DL the content we paid for and we can get back to enjoying what I have so far found to be an otherwise entertaining game.

This might seem a bit stupid but in the configuration utility in the network, check to see if the right adaptor is selected. It was my problem as I use wifi and it was set to use the ethernet port... (go figure >_>)

Can someone whose game is working post a copy/paste of the DragonAge configuration file (located in the settings folder i.e, Bioware\\\\DragonAge\\\\Settings) I'd like to compare it to someone who has one working to see if there's a setting that's off...

I've got Vista here and tried the ECM fix but was a no go...

Saw 2 ports that they are listening on: 6878 and 2869. Tried port forwarding those 2, still doesn't work...
