If my character wants to run around waving a stave in then nude then why shouldn't he be able to? I reserve the right to thermal underwear in cold climates however.

Considering Origins had people in their underwear after the Fox scandal over Mass Effect, and Dragon Age II had "fade to black" scenes, I don't think they will follow the Witcher 2 style of sex scenes. I doubt EA would ever allow them to.

Fox is the devil! I need an elite group of naked fighting warriors in DA3 and I will stop at nothing to obtain it.

Oh, look, another thread about showing the naughty bits.

I'm not a prude. If they're going to show sex, they should do it sans granny panties. There's nothing "adult" or "mature" about depicting sex as sex. It is what it is, and if a person thinks that babies happen through two layers of 1x1 cotton jersey, there won't be much I can do to dissuade them of this fact. I'm privileged enough to own a PC that can handle most graphics, so I have the luxury of removing DA:O underwear when it's silly, but that's the only reason I do it. Because it's ridiculous.

I rather liked the DA2 fade-to-black. It got the point across, and nobody needed to see fugly panties. Since they have yet to make a mod that depicts full frontal nudity on males, that's rather important.Because it would have been stupid to have the ladies hanging out in their alltogether while the guys were chilling in lounge pants. I know, the guys like to see the naughty bits. I don't much care. Cameltoe ain't my thing.

If you're talking about stripping a character down and *not* sex scenes, DA2 underwear is fine, but for the guys, DA:O underwear would have been better. When I take a character's armor off, I want to see what's under the clothing. In medieval times, if they were interested in historical accuracy, females would have worn some king of a shift and males would have worn a long shirt tucked into divided hose (they didn't meet in the middle, so butt and nuts would have been hanging out). I don't see them doing that. A loincloth would be an acceptable alternative. I don't see them doing that again, either.

Face it, folks. Cover-ups are here to stay. It's a sad, sad day when the human form should be considered something dirty to be disguised at every opportunity, but I didn't make the world, I just live in it. We'll have to keep imagining appropriate and historically accurate underclothing. Oh, well.

If they had an "interactive" bathing game like Agarest Senki some people could explode....

Didn't the Fox scandal actually increase the sales? Also, didn't EA also bully Fox into apologising or admitting their error?

Full frontal nudity is distracting. "Look, BOOBIES!" tends to drive out other thoughts.

I don't think the impact of Fox should be overstated. Liara's ME3 scene is just as racy as her ME1 scene, maybe more so.

Nope, fans did. When they bum rushed the Fox News boards with spam comments about it and they tanked the Amazon reviews of the book of the supposed "video game expert" stating that Mass Effect was a simulation sex game, even though she hadn't played it.

The fans gave her all zero Amazon reviews on her book, saying "I haven't read the book, but I assume its horrible."

All pretty poetic justice. People may say gamers are whiny and immature and that these tactics only reinforce that... but hey - loving video games is a steroetypical nerd pass time. Reacting in a way that is in line with a nerd is not a bad thing. And pretty much proves the fact that you don't want to screw around with nerds. In the Information Age, WE are the star quarterbacks and the head cheerleaders; in the digital age, WE are the powerful and influential. So don't mess with us.

EDIT: Oh, errr... to be on topic, I guess...

Nudity in sex scenes? Sure, why not. Doesn't matter that much to me.

Nudity because you took off all the armor? ...

...why? Is this Row?[/url]

To be honest, I'd prefer it if my character defaulted to wearing some sort of clothes, rather than just wearing underwear when unarmoured.

Particularly when Oghren's Blood Dragon armour can't be verified and stops working in Origins *shudder*

What's next? A red headed prostitute who happens to be where everyone goes "muahaha my plan is coming along nicely -evil goatee stroke-"? Nah, I can live without it. Although a Bioware produced Game of Thrones would be nice...

Also that Broodmother pic is hilarious...

On one hand I feel if rated M games are ever going to actually be considered the rating for legal adults, then nudity should not be something developers shy away from. The M rating is the gaming equivalent to film's R, then why shouldn't nudity exist...at least in moderation.

I don't think being allowed to run around naked is the best implementation of nudity. However nudity for the sake of dramatic effect, or as the culmination of a romance could be justified...so long as it is equal among genders. To just show a topless woman would reek of cheap perversion, and make the medium look juvenile.

Good for the fans.

Nudity: If it's an M rated game, and it's a romance scene between 2 people that love each other...then why not? Tasteful? Yes, please. I don't need soft porn. But the cinematic gymnastics they do to avoid it just seems and feels silly.

A lovemaking shower scene in ME with clothes on? Wha...? But more detailed headshots. It's weird.

I don't think the desire for nudity is to see boobs, so much as it is a reaction to how childish and frankly silly the clothed love scenes are.  If anything the fact that M rated games are seemingly affraid to move beyond PG-13 sex makes the genre seem designed for a younger playerbase then the M rating would indicate.

I think in order for games to be taken more seriously, nudity could be employed, but only when it is dramatically appropriate.  M games should not have to deal with  arguments like "Think of the Chlidren" and should be allowed to deal with adult content and that includes sex.

The Witcher 1-2 has full frontal nudity. Nobody went bad from playing those games.

If I want to see boobs I can just type it into google, it isn't about the boobage. As funnny as clothed romance scenes are they're also pretty ridiculous. It would also be pretty comical to kill enemies in the nude. Killing enemies in small cloth was fun for a while, but the novelty has warn off and I seek new thrills.

Nudity when appropriate is fine as long as it applies to both genders. Nudity for the sake of nudity is childish. Fade to black works just as well. Fade to black simply implies what has happened and allows the gamers to head canon whatever they want.

Because childish humor is found nowhere else in the DA series?

Humor can be done fully clothed. It does not require nudity. And if one wishes to run around nude in combat certain particular parts should be subject to dismemberment. What childish humor are we referencing?
