Nudity when appropriate is fine as long as it applies to both genders. Nudity for the sake of nudity is childish.

Because childish humor is found nowhere else in the DA series?

Humor can be done fully clothed.

You did humor? How was she?

I noticed you removed the other part of my quote. What childish humor are you referencing? And you attempt at humor was a nice try but fell flat.

Doesn't need to be full frontal, ME1 did it tastefully without it seeming like "OMG NUDES".

Yes, I removed the part that wasn't important to my comment, keen observation. You don't think my joke is funny? Oh no! Your opinion is so important to me...

me... If you didn't think there was any childish hummor in DA:O or DA2 then you're pretty oblivious.

This web is getting too big, I made a mess of that comment. Listen I was joking, if you don't agree or have the same humor as me that's great, but just because something is childish doesn't mean it should be barred from the game.

I was ok with having 'tasteful' sex scenes like in mass effect but op you sound like you're just looking for some cheap thrills and porn so I'm changing my opinion.I think bioware should have the bare minimal kissing scene and fade to black.I can see now that even 'tasteful' sex is going to attract the wrong kind of crowd.I agree with david gaider, these types of threads are uncomfortable.

why do people care so much about seeing some pixel boobs/balls for all of 5 seconds?

I imagine for the same reason people go gaga over having 'romances' with these pixels.   It's called Fantasy.  It's not meant to be analysed with some pseudo-logical/scentific rational mindset.

Personally, I'm all for it.  And if nudity for the sake of nudity  = Childish, then point me to the playground and call me "Kid".

Meshes and simulated bodily movement do not imitate the actual physical body in a realistic and believable manner. It always looks rigid, unnatural and somewhat comical. I would have the nudity for comedic effect. His hand just went through her boob! There is humor to be had, but honestly, it simply does not look realistic enough to warrant this moral upheaval. Personally, I'd prefer more endearing comments by LI's and perhaps the occasional ability to kiss or say something sweet to them. Words are better.

Also, "tasteless sex" doesn't deserve the bad rap it gets. It's still fun to engage in and watch.

So there.

I agree with this.  I've still yet to see a game that does it totally right. although some come close.  But this is something that will eventually be fixed as the technology advances.

There are plenty of outlets to get what you're looking for, a fantasy rpg is not one of them.Try leisure suit larry.

What actually would be funny to me is if you were running around nekkid in the streets..in battle, and you suddenly got arrested for indecent exposure. Had to pay a fine.

The only thing about running around nekkid in game is that nobody notices. So I hear...*shifty eyes*

But uh, yeah..the love scene in ME3 with Shep and Kaidan was good I thought. I was cool with that. They were in their small clothes, messed around..fade to black. I was cool with that.

But in DA2, Anders with that Stank coat on...ugh. Can we at least take off the coat!? It must have reeked to high...uh, hades...All that running around in the heat. Slaying dragons and blood mages. Rolling around in DarkTown. Then here he comes with that...yuck.

I was talking about comical pleasure not alone time pleasure. Clothed love scenes are much more childish then any type of nudity for any reason. The movie industry can go wild with there sex scenes but video games are restricted to half clothed fade to black scenes.

If video games are going to be treated like any other type of entertainment media then companies like Bioware need to take a stand. If that stand just so happens to coincide with my cheap thrills then why not?

n
companies like bioware have to take a stand despite what Fox

Oh, I don't know about that. I haven't read anything in the "rulebook" that prohibits the inclusion of tasteless sex in an RPG.  Have you?   And good thing too, since some of the best fantasy  RPGs to come out in the last decade have been filled with it. We've got DA:O: I would consider the first encounter in Morrigan's tent as "tasteless", since you barely know each other when it happens. And bedding that Dalish chick that Canmen is in love with is certainly not tasteful..

Then we've got Witcher 2: Sleeping with the Succubus is tasteless, as is having sex with the Elf chick who's life you saved. And having sex with any un-named prostitute in any game is "tasteless". Yet, every  fantasy RPG I've ever played, save for 1,  has had a Brothel. Brothels are a staple of all fantasy RPGs.  No reason why they can't flesh them out a little more.  It's proven to increase sales, after all.

There are alot of unwritten laws in the gaming "rulebook" that still must be followed such as killing children,Incest and rp'ing the taliban just to name a few.Your original statement is not arguing the morality of the encounter but the manner in which it is presented.Tasteless Hardcore xxx in a fantasy rpg centered around saving the world from dragons is a definite no no.There is a major difference between the definition of fantasy when it applies to games and when you apply it to playboy.

Yep.

All companion outfits  in DA2 (save for maybe Isabela's, since it gets a lot of air lol) must stink pretty bad.  They wear them day and night for 10 straight years, after all.

There are no such laws, written or unwritten.  There are only  1) die-hard traditionalists;  2)  The easily offended;  3) and (totally optional) ESRB rating systems.  All three  have failed spectacularly to stop  the gaming industry  from breaking sales records and taboos. Skyrim, for example, gleefully promotes  (and rewards) Cannibalism, demon worship, ritual murder, sucking the blood of innocents etc.  DA2 has at least one quest about pedophilia.  Witcher  2 has a BDSM scene.  And just about all Fantasy RPGs today that contain romances are moving very quickly towards making   Homosexual scenes and relationships the Norm.  Just a decade ago, that was taboo too.

But I digress,  Anyone who cites the Taliban to argue that games shouldn't contain  graphic sex and violent themes gets  The Poster of the Year award from me.  Bravo.
