There are alot of unwritten laws in the gaming "rulebook" that still must be followed such as killing children,Incest and rp'ing the taliban just to name a few.Your original statement is not arguing the morality of the encounter but the manner in which it is presented.Tasteless Hardcore xxx in a fantasy rpg centered around saving the world from dragons is a definite no no.There is a major difference between the definition of fantasy when it applies to games and when you apply it to playboy.

There are no such laws, written or unwritten.  There are only die-hard traditionalists and (totally optional) ESRB rating systems.  Both of which have failed spectacularly to stop Games from breaking sales records even when they contain all of the above.

Skyrim, for example, gleefully promotes  (and rewards) Cannibalism.  DA2 has at least one quest about pedophilia.

But I digress,  Anyone who cites the Taliban to argue that games shouldn't contain  graphic sex gets Poster of the Year award.  Bravo.

The point of the post was there are alot of things not in your "rulebook" that could be implemented but we, humanity have this thing called self-respect and decorum, well some of us anyway but guess that went right over your head. Thanks for the award, I try Posted Image

Oh, look, another thread about showing the naughty bits.

I'm not a prude. If they're going to show sex, they should do it sans granny panties. There's nothing "adult" or "mature" about depicting sex as sex. It is what it is, and if a person thinks that babies happen through two layers of 1x1 cotton jersey, there won't be much I can do to dissuade them of this fact. I'm privileged enough to own a PC that can handle most graphics, so I have the luxury of removing DA:O underwear when it's silly, but that's the only reason I do it. Because it's ridiculous.

I rather liked the DA2 fade-to-black. It got the point across, and nobody needed to see fugly panties. Since they have yet to make a mod that depicts full frontal nudity on males, that's rather important.Because it would have been stupid to have the ladies hanging out in their alltogether while the guys were chilling in lounge pants. I know, the guys like to see the naughty bits. I don't much care. Cameltoe ain't my thing.

If you're talking about stripping a character down and *not* sex scenes, DA2 underwear is fine, but for the guys, DA:O underwear would have been better. When I take a character's armor off, I want to see what's under the clothing. In medieval times, if they were interested in historical accuracy, females would have worn some king of a shift and males would have worn a long shirt tucked into divided hose (they didn't meet in the middle, so butt and nuts would have been hanging out). I don't see them doing that. A loincloth would be an acceptable alternative. I don't see them doing that again, either.

Face it, folks. Cover-ups are here to stay. It's a sad, sad day when the human form should be considered something dirty to be disguised at every opportunity, but I didn't make the world, I just live in it. We'll have to keep imagining appropriate and historically accurate underclothing. Oh, well.

What was completely stupid about DA2 underwear was when you played a rogue Hawke.....

Hawke shows skin in that rogue starter gear but when you strip him...he's wearing long johns.

I blame the people who whined about Origins underwear. <_<

Yes, I removed the part that wasn't important to my comment, keen observation. You don't think my joke is funny? Oh no! Your opinion is so important to
me... If you didn't think there was any childish hummor in DA:O or DA2 then you're pretty oblivious.

You post on the forum you open yourself to comment. Whether my opinion is important to you is irrelevant. It is important to me. I never said there was no childish humor in DAO or DA2 I simply said show me the examples since you made the statement. And no I am not oblivious

Aaah, and the truth comes out.

Naked bodies are "inhumane" and "unrespectful" in  your viewpoint.  That's fine.  Everone's got an opinion.  Your's happens to belong to the cute little noisy minority.  Don't pretend otherwise.

Yep.

All companion outfits  in DA2 (save for maybe Isabela's, since it gets a lot of air lol) must stink pretty bad.  They wear them day and night for 10 straight years, after all.

*gasp* oh, that's right! Ooooohhh, that's just wrong.

So replace  my "naked bodies" with  "graphic  animalistic humping" and address the point.

Or dodge it because you know I'm right:   You're posting a minority viewpoint.  Sex is the midas touch of sales and marketting.  Anyone with consciousness and awareness of the world knows this.  include it, and your product will sell better than when you don't.  period.

That if nudity and a perfectly natural act that fades to black- more then kiss 'OH NOEZ BARE MINIMUM KISSING SCENE ANYTHING ELSE IS ICKY' then I sincerly hope you're a kid. A very young kid.

If this thread makes you 'uncomfortable', you're a prude of disturbing proportions.

The 'wrong kind of crowd'? You mean the kind that has the gall to make jokes and not mind nudity? The horror.

His point was crystal clear.  It's grotesquely immature  (not to mention arrogant to the extreme) to judge an entire  segment of the fanbase as "wrong"  or "unwelcome", simply because they like something  in a game that offends you.

I dunno... The elder scrolls, red dead redemption, uncharted,Call of duty, gears of war, half life 2,battlefield,diablo are all Rated M games that had massive sales and won Goty without the inclusion of gaphic sex.Infact I don't believe any game that has have had graphic sex scenes has won Goty so your view point appears to be false and the one in the minority.

Red Dead Redemption; VIVA MEXICO!~ yes. It blood well did. Most horrifying sex scene ever.

The others listed more then make it up for it in blood, gore, violence, swearing, content, and plot. So people exploding each other into gibs is alright, but being nakkie/having sex...isn't?

You make so much sense.

Not sure how  a game of the year designation equates with "majority opinion", but I do know for a fact that There's never been a game with modding tools that didn't produce nude/sex mods, and then,  have those mods become anything less than  the most downloaded mods of the game

You didn't?  Seriously?  of course it's natural.  it's also completely natural to enjoy viewing such a thing.  It's called eye candy after all.

The human body is unnatural now?

I have the feeling any sex, to you, is tasteless.

LOL, how cute. You're a child because you can't handle something as small as sex in a video game and can't form an arguement with any merit whatsoever.

Those mods often end up being nothing more than fan-service, it doesn't mean introducing those mods would suddenly make the game any better. Some of the most popular mods I've seen involve you sleeping with every NPC available, that doesn't mean it's good--it's just some people get off on seeing those pixels.

It's mostly why those mods end up appearing nothing more than pixel porn, such as "anal" or "******" mods which just make the romance scenes ridiculous. The DA team doesn't show the romance to get people off, they show it to demonstrate people loving each other.

Nudity and sex everywhere for no reason serves little purpose.

Referencing the mod argument that most frequently downloaded mods involve sex / nudity, which is about sex everywhere for no reason. Hell, click on the projects button at the top of the forum and you'll find almost all of them are about mindless sex.

And if I want my pixel to be naked, why shouldn't he/she be?

Fan-service, silly and the game wouldn't acknowledge it anymore than current game mentioning your character in skivvies (aka, not at all) and does nothing for the actual game itself. In other words, serves no purpose.
