Instead of addressing the IT head on, or leaving clues concerning its existence in the EC, all BioWare did was add in some growls and buzzes at random points in the narrative. I thought this was a real cop-out. Relying on bells and whistles and smoke and mirrors instead of confirming or denying anything. Boo-urns.

Just to clarify, I didn't believe it for a second, I'm just pointing out that instead of killing it or confirming it, BioWare tried to be all mysterious about it by adding in funny noises.

Burn me at the stake if you want, but I couldn't care less about the Indoctrination Theory.

inb4 posting in this thread means I do care.

I still think the Indoctrination Theory holds water and is plausible.

The reason why should be pretty obvious:

The ITers are so "um, committed" that direct denial of IT might make them really mad, and cause them to stop being Bioware fans.

But throw them a few bones, and they'll do just what they currently are doing - continue claiming Bioware are genius writers and the "real" ending DLC ("greatest twist ending in gaming history") is on the way any day now.

Over time they will bargain themselves down to "IT is good headcanon that isn't completely contradicted by the endings we were given".

Mission accomplished - fans retained.

Call me crazy but I think non-IT'ers will be surprised in about 3 years. Either that or Bioware decided to shut down a franchise that was probably good for 3-6 new games and $1 billion in future sales.

The IT is just fans grasping at straws, like a little kid who leaves cookies out for Santa, and in the morning finds them gone, only to still continue believing in Bioware... sorry, I mean Santa.

I think that Bioware made the EC, to appease both the IT theorists and the all the other players who were left feeling abandoned @ the end of ME 3.

Why in the hell should BioWare appease the criminally insane?

How magical did that feel? There's no denying it.

I wouldn't say IT fans are 'grasping at straws' as you put it. Besides I've talked to some other ME players in my local area and all of us agree that the IT theory while is not canon, its still a good theory and is plausible.

I liked how they handled this.
The IT'ers will one day or other face the reality.

I celebrate Channukah, so we have the Armadillo. Everyone knows Armadillos are real. :P

You are crazy. IT is not required for Bioware to release more games set in the ME universe.
They just have to be careful when getting close to the times/places covered by the Mass Effect trilogy.

Why do you think this? At every point they have grasped onto the slightest thread that could keep the theory alive.

I think they'll continue doing so, while bargaining themselves down from their original claims - instead of "Bioware meant it all along and the real ending is coming", it'll change to "Bioware meant it originally but they had to abandon the real ending DLC plans for some reason", then finally  "I don't care if Bioware meant it or not, it works better as headcanon".

They can do as they think is better, I am pretty satisfied that IT is not true in the real world.

It's funny how, just a few months ago, this board was all over IT, totally convinced of its plausibility.

Now that the ending is a bit less painful, everyone who hasn't forgotten about all of the clues is a delusional conspiracy theorist.

Why are you so butthurt about it mate? Just because you don't think it's true doesn't mean it isn't...or do you know all?

I approve this. I think... IF it wasn't true, I want my re-union DLC.. If that came out, I'd be happy.. *hint hint bioware*
